Google Assistant speakers and displays can play scheduled announcements with a feature called \u201cFamily Bell.\u201d But what happ<\/a>ens if your routine is going to be different for a while? There\u2019s an easy way to pause these announcements.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re unfamiliar with the Family Bell feature, it\u2019s a great way to keep your household on schedule. Simply enter a phrase such as \u201cit\u2019s bedtime,\u201d select days and times, and choose a smart speaker or display. Google Assistant will make the announcement at the selected time.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s possible to disable a Family Bell announcement if you don\u2019t need it, but if you intend to turn it on again later, you can pause it instead. We\u2019ll show you how.<\/p>\n

Open the \u201cGoogle Home\u201d app on your\u00a0iPhone<\/a>,\u00a0iPad<\/a>, or\u00a0Android<\/a>\u00a0smartphone or tablet, then tap your profile icon in the top-right corner.<\/p>\n

Select \u201cAssistant Settings\u201d from the menu.<\/p>\n

Select \u201cFamily Bell\u201d from the long list of settings.<\/p>\n

At the top of the screen, you\u2019ll see a blue highlighted message that says \u201cPause bells while you\u2019re on break.\u201d Tap \u201cGet Started.\u201d<\/p>\n

Next, select the \u201cFirst Date\u201d box to open the calendar.<\/p>\n

Select the beginning date of your break, then tap \u201cSet.\u201d<\/p>\n

Choose the end date of the break and tap \u201cSet.\u201d<\/p>\n

Check the box for any bells that you wish to pause and tap \u201cSave\u201d to finish.<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll now see the break listed at the top of the Family Bell settings. Tap \u201cEdit\u201d to make changes.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s it! The Family Bell won\u2019t go off during your break, and it will return to its usual behavior afterward. You won\u2019t have to worry about remembering to enable it again.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
