Bruce Springsteen was allegedly busted in Sandy Hook, New Jersey when he pulled over to take pictures with fans \u2014 and then took a shot of tequila offered by one of them in full view of the cops, a music industry insider said.<\/p>\n

The \u201cBorn to Run\u201d icon, 71,\u00a0had been\u00a0riding his motorcycle\u00a0on the peninsula on Nov. 14 when he \u201cwas spotted by fans who asked him to pull over and take some pictures,\u201d according to a source close to Springsteen.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cBruce stopped, took the pictures, then a fan offered him a shot of liquor, which he took, while sitting on his bike,\u00a0which was stationary,\u201d the source said.<\/p>\n

\u201cPark Police saw what happ<\/a>ened and they immedia<\/a>tely pulled Springsteen over as he drove away.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Post has not been able to immediately verify this account with law enforcement.<\/p>\n

Springsteen was charged with DWI, reckless driving and consuming alcohol in a closed area, a spokesperson for the National Park Service said.<\/p>\n

The Asbury Park Press reported<\/a> Springsteen\u2019s blood-alcohol content was 0.02 \u2014 just a quarter of New Jersey\u2019s legal limit \u2014 when he was arrested.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The legal threshold in New Jersey is .08, which the outlet said calls into question why Springsteen was charged with driving while intoxicated.<\/p>\n

News<\/a> of the bust broke just days after Springsteen appeared in and narrated a Super Bowl spot for Jeep, in which he implored Americans to move toward the political \u201cmiddle\u201d in the spirit of unity amid recent bitter division.<\/p>\n

The ad has since been yanked from Jeep\u2019s YouTube page.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
