“#Issa Rae Sets Next Project as HBO Max Orders ‘Rap Sh*t’ From ‘Insecure’ Creator<\/strong>”

Weeks after HBO announced that its acclaimed comedy Insecure<\/em> would be ending after five seasons, star and creator Issa Rae is already setting her sights on something new.<\/p>\n

HBO Max has given an 8-episode series<\/a> order to Rap Sh*t<\/em> (working title), a half-hour comedy from Rae, Syreeta Singleton, and hip hop duo Yung Miami and JT of City Girls. The show follows two estranged high school friends from Miami that reunite to form a rap group.<\/p>\n

Rap Sh*t <\/em>is executive produced by Rae and Montrel McKay for HOORAE, Jonathan Berry and Dave Becky for 3 Arts Entertainment, and showrunner Singleton. Yung Miami and JT are co-executive producing with Kevin \u201cCoach K\u201d Lee and Pierre \u201cP\u201d Thomas for Quality Control Films, and HOORAE\u2019s Sara Rastogi.<\/p>\n

Rae and Singleton are writing the pilot episode as casting is currently underway. Production on the series is slated to begin sometime this summer.<\/p>\n

Rap Sh*t <\/em>shouldn\u2019t interfere with Insecure<\/em>\u2018s production as filming for Season 5 of HBO\u2019s comedy begins this February.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
