Season 1 seemed to have a concrete ending, but HBO is excited about the possibilities for a potential second season.<\/p>\n<p>During the Television Critics Association press tour, HBO and HBO Max chief content officer <strong>Casey Bloys<\/strong> said Green and a small team of writers are currently coming up with a take for <em>Lovecraft Country<\/em> season 2, and he\u2019s \u201chopeful\u201d they will end up generating a story worth telling.<br \/><span id=\"more-657583\"><\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Will_Lovecraft_Country_Season_2_Happen\"><\/span>Will Lovecraft Country Season 2 Happen?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>\u201cShe had a book to go on in the first season,\u201d Bloys told Deadline. \u201cShe and the writers wanted to go off and take some time to go out and figure out without a book with these characters, what\u2019s the journey we want to go on. We all want to be sure she\u2019s got a story to tell. That\u2019s where she is right now, working on those ideas. I\u2019m very hopeful, as is Misha, so we\u2019re giving them the time to work.\u201d<br \/>\n<!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post -->After what h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ened with <em><a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Game<\/a> of Thrones<\/em>, it makes sense that HBO would be a bit wary of continuing shows based on books after the show catches up to the ending of the novel. But <em>Watchmen<\/em> ended up being one of the best shows of 2019 (and maybe ever?), and that story went well beyond the events of the original graphic novel. In fact, it seems as if Bloys is taking the same approach with Green that he\u2019s taking with <em>Watchmen<\/em>\u2018s Damon Lindelof: if they come up with ideas for more, great. If not, that\u2019s cool, too. (Although it remains to be seen if Bloys, who frequently harps on the importance of building relationships with creative people, would offer <em>Lovecraft Country<\/em> to another showrunner should nothing come from Green\u2019s early sessions.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Spoilers<\/strong> for\u00a0<em>Lovecraft Country<\/em>\u00a0season one below.<\/p>\n<p>The first season ended with <strong>Jonathan Majors<\/strong>\u2018 character sacrificing himself and dying \u2013 a storytelling decision Green had \u201cno pause\u201d in making.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think that it\u2019s a little evident that I just like story to move, and to not be afraid of the possibility that there\u2019s always story to tell,\u201d she told <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/tv\/tv-features\/lovecraft-country-creator-misha-green-interview-season-finale-1077047\/\">Rolling Stone<\/a> after the finale. \u201cIt begins with what Matt [Ruff] was doing in the novel, of reclaiming these genre spaces for people of color. I just feel like that\u2019s 20 seasons in my mind. That statement can open up a world, and the world that was created in Season One can be opened up in so many ways. That was one of the things we explored with this idea of going to Korea, and understanding that magic isn\u2019t just limited to\u00a0<i>The Book of Names<\/i>. It\u2019s everywhere. It\u2019s a thing that\u2019s out in the world. Our monsters aren\u2019t the only monsters that exist.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So unless they decide to further explore the idea of parallel universes, it sounds like a second season may include a new cast and potentially even a new setting. But there\u2019s something else to consider in all of this: Green\u2019s schedule. She\u2019s writing an assassin movie for <em>Mulan<\/em> director Nikki Caro and she was recently hired to direct the <em>Tomb Raider<\/em> sequel starring Alicia Vikander. Will she even have time to return for more <em>Lovecraft Country<\/em>?
