Roy has lived through this loop so many times that he\u2019s become jaded by the whole thing, though he\u2019s no closer to solving the mystery behind why he\u2019s stuck in the loop in the first place.<\/p>\n<p>The film trailer plays like\u00a0<em>Groundhog Day\u00a0<\/em>meets\u00a0<em>Edge of Tomorrow<\/em> meets\u00a0<em>Deadpool<\/em>, with the sarcastic Roy often engaging in some witty banter with his killers before he dies horribly. Despite the film\u2019s title, however, it doesn\u2019t seem to have any relation to video <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a>s, though at first it comes off like a more violent version of Ryan Reynolds\u2019 upcoming\u00a0<em>Free Guy.\u00a0<\/em>According to writer\/director Joe Carnahan (<em>The A-Team<\/em>,\u00a0<em>The Grey<\/em>), the original script was called\u00a0<em>Continue<\/em> and was written by two brothers, Chris and Eddie Borey, which Carnahan had been developing at\u00a020th Century Fox as early as 2012. The project eventually morphed into\u00a0<em>Boss Level<\/em> once Grillo and co-star Mel Gibson boarded in 2017, with Carnahan writing and directing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought it was very inventive and smart,\u201d Carnahan said in the production notes for the film. \u201cBut what I really loved about it was this idea of a guy who\u2019s been an absentee father and husband who, through a sci-fi plot twist, experiences a repeating moment in which \u2014 if he has enough attempts \u2014 he can right the wrongs he\u2019s done and redeem himself in the eyes of the people he loves.\u00a0I started rewriting it, and I added what I thought was a crucial emotional core. Because without that, a movie like this would just seem like a gimmick. You\u2019d think, \u2018Ok, the guy is resurrected every day, but to what end?\u2019 The movie needed higher emotional stakes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Those stakes include his ex-wife, Jemma (Naomi Watts), and son, Joe (played by Grillo\u2019s actual son, Rio), whom he must rescue from the villainous Colonel Clive Ventor (Mel Gibson). Also starring in the film are\u00a0Michelle Yeoh (<em>Crazy Rich<\/em> Asians)<em>,<\/em> Annabelle Wallis (<em>The Mummy<\/em>), Ken Jeong (<em>Community<\/em>), Will Sasso (<em>The Three Stooges<\/em>), Selina Lo (<em>The Debt Collector<\/em>),\u00a0Meadow Williams (<em>Den of Thieves<\/em>),\u00a0Rob Gronkowski (Super Bowl champion),\u00a0and\u00a0MMA heavyweights Rashad Evans\u00a0and Quinton \u201cRampage\u201d Jackson co-star.<\/p>\n<p>Here is the synopsis for\u00a0<em>Boss Level<\/em>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post_2 -->Trapped in a time loop that constantly repeats the day of his murder, former special forces agent Roy Pulver (Frank Grillo) uncovers clues about a secret government project that could unlock the mystery behind his untimely death.
