Nassim Nicholas Taleb, who previously worked as a risk analyst and options trader, views Bitcoin (BTC) less than optimistically, however.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI&#8217;ve been getting rid of my BTC,\u201d Taleb <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/nntaleb\/status\/1360276917992230919\">said<\/a> in a tweet on Friday, as <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bnnbloomberg.ca\/black-swan-author-calls-bitcoin-a-failure-at-least-for-now-1.1563059\" data-amp=\"https:\/\/www-bnnbloomberg-ca.cdn.ampproject.org\/c\/s\/www.bnnbloomberg.ca\/black-swan-author-calls-bitcoin-a-failure-at-least-for-now-1.1563059.amp.html\">reported<\/a>\u00a0by BNN Bloomberg. \u201cWhy? A currency is never supposed to be more volatile than what you buy &amp; sell with it,\u201d he explained, also noting: <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cYou can&#8217;t price goods in BTC. In that respect, it&#8217;s a failure (at least for now). It was taken over by Covid denying sociopaths w\/the sophistication of amoebas.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Taleb\u2019s logic keys in on Bitcoin as a currency, not a store of value \u2014 though the latter has redefined the digital asset\u2019s role in some ways in recent years, at least according to multiple crypto industry players. Some folks, such as Bitcoin Cash (BCH) advocate Roger Ver, have <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/rogerkver\/status\/1358100270266335232\">argued<\/a> that BTC was meant to serve as a payment method. Ver often <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/rogerkver\/status\/1357327635332935680\">posits<\/a> that Bitcoin\u2019s current framework does not allow for such a transactional role, echoing some of Taleb\u2019s concerns. <\/p>\n<p>Gold advocate and finance commentator Peter Schiff also often speaks out against Bitcoin, although a growing number of mainstream companies obviously think differently, seeing value in the digital asset. <\/p>\n<p>One of Bitcoin\u2019s biggest recent proponents, MicroStrategy CEO Michael Saylor, views Bitcoin as a method of preserving value while other assets and currencies become worth less. <\/p>\n<p><template data-name=\"subscription_form\" data-type=\"markets_outlook\"><\/template><\/div>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
