\n Macy\u2019s is set to kick off six nights of fireworks shows across New York City Monday night \u2014 but Big App<\/a>le residents won\u2019t be told exactly where or when the pyrotechnic launches will take place.<\/p>\n

Organizers of the show, dubbed \u201cMacy\u2019s Fireworks \u2014 Reimagined,\u201d worked with city officials to hide the whereabouts of the display in what they say is an effort to stop throngs of people from gathering to watch the explosion of lights as the city fights the coronavirus outbreak.<\/p>\n

The daily secret shows will continue through the Fourth of July on Saturday, when the final show we be broadcast on NBC, the company said in a statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cEach show is brief and will be over before residents can gather at its source,\u201d said the retail giant, whose flagship 34th Street store was looted amid social<\/a> unrest in the city earlier this month.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe displays will be launched from one or two land or water based locations over the course of the week-long celebration covering every borough of New York City.\u201d<\/p>\n

But the idea have drawn some criticism from local officials, who pointed out the city has been overrun with illegal firework shows for about a month.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy constituents are extremely concerned abt the Macy\u2019s fireworks,\u201d Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer wrote in a tweet.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are already surprise fireworks shows in our neighborhoods, to the distress of people who have PTSD & pets. To have a 6 day travel<\/a>ing surprise fireworks show in the midst of a budget crisis doesn\u2019t make sense,\u201d she added.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
