You\u2019d think that with a name like Rob Zombie, brains would be on the menu rather than carrots. <\/p>\n

But the horror heavy-metal icon and former front man of the New York-based hard rock act White Zombie says that he\u2019s vegan \u2014 and that he thinks his all-veggie diet is one of the most metal ways to stick it to the man.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The \u201cMore Human Than Human\u201d singer sat down with GQ Magazine for an interview, published Thursday<\/a>, and dished about his diet, exercise habits and why he made the choice to stop eating all animal products nine years ago. <\/p>\n

Zombie said veganism symbolizes \u201cfighting the establishment, fighting the norms, fighting the path that\u2019s been laid out for you by corporate America telling you how you\u2019re supposed to think and how you\u2019re supposed to be.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cVeganism is exactly the opposite of that. It is anti-establishment,\u201d Zombie added.<\/p>\n

His plant-based diet started one day with a particularly revolting plate of eggs.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThe vegetarian thing started when I was in high school. I never really liked eating meat. Whenever I was served pork chops or something it would just taste awful to me. We\u2019re all brainwashed from the moment we\u2019re born that all the cows are happ<\/a>y and the pigs are happy and everybody\u2019s so happy and it\u2019s all \u2018Old McDonald Had a Farm.\u2019 And then I saw a movie that was the first time I really saw how brutal and disgusting factory farming was,\u201d Zombie explained to GQ.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Over the years, Zombie would eat cheese or use creamer in his coffee but then one morning he was eating eggs and he realized he couldn\u2019t do it anymore. <\/p>\n

\u201cI was just, like, \u2018this is disgusting and I\u2019m done,\u2019\u201d he told the outlet.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd that was it. I\u2019ve been 100% vegan since that moment.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

At first, adapting to the lifestyle was difficult, Zombie said \u2014 he felt like there was \u201cnothing to eat.\u201d He started out with the typical, veganism for beginners chow \u2014 \u201cfake ham and the fake baloney or the fake hot dogs\u201d and then he and his wife realized they were \u201csick of all the fake sandwiches.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cYour tastes change and what you consider healthy changes,\u201d the \u201cSuperbeast\u201d rocker said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery day it gets easier, and every day the food gets better. Veggie burgers used to be like tasteless hockey pucks, and now they\u2019re so delicious.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Each day, Zombie and his wife Sheri eat the \u201cexact same breakfast\u201d \u2014 oatmeal, toast, fruit and coffee \u2014 while switching it up for lunch.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of decent frozen vegan stuff if we\u2019re in a hurry, like frozen burritos or pad Thai or different pasta dishes,\u201d Zombie said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cSheri\u2019s very good at making these super-elaborate salads. Salad used to be awful iceberg lettuce and a tasteful tomato. That\u2019s why so many people don\u2019t care about vegetables, we grew up eating vegetables that had no taste. When you get good vegetables that are prepared right, they\u2019re super delicious.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

The pair \u201clove juicing\u201d and the only drinks they ever consume is \u201ccoffee and water\u201d along with the green beverages.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He said that veganism is a way to fight back against corporate behemoths. <\/p>\n

\u201cOnce you make these decisions, you can\u2019t help but learn more about it. And every day you uncover what an evil industry everything is. Dairy is the leading cause of breast cancer, yet Dannon is a big sponsor of the pink ribbon walks. It\u2019s like Marlboro sponsoring the lung society or something. And you just realize, oh, this is one giant brainwashed lie we\u2019re fed from the moment we\u2019re born.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
