Peacemaker<\/em><\/strong> has added two more actors to its growing ensemble.\u00a0Alison Araya<\/strong> and\u00a0Lenny Jacobson<\/strong> are the latest to join the\u00a0Peacemaker<\/em> cast as new characters in the HBO Max spin-off series<\/a> of writer\/director\u00a0James Gunn<\/strong>\u2018s upcoming movie\u00a0The Suicide Squad<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Variety<\/a> broke the news<\/a> that Alison Araya and Lenny Jacobson have been tapp<\/a>ed for recurring roles in the upcoming\u00a0Peacemaker<\/em> series at HBO Max. Araya and Jacobson will play the married couple Amber and Evan, respectively.
\nAraya is an Australian-Latina actress who is best known for appearing on\u00a0Riverdale<\/em>,\u00a0Arrow<\/em>, and\u00a0Julie and the Phantoms<\/em>. Meanwhile,\u00a0Jacobson previously starred in\u00a0Narcos: Mexico<\/em>\u00a0at Netflix and is currently appearing on the alt-history space drama For All Mankind<\/em>\u00a0at Apple. He\u2019s also appeared on TV shows like\u00a0Nurse Jackie<\/em> and films like\u00a0Bumblebee<\/em> and\u00a0Like Father<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Amber and Evan don\u2019t appear to be established characters from the DC Comics canon, so we can probably assume that these are characters invented by Gunn. The description is so vague that it\u2019s hard to tell how major of a role Araya and Jacobson have, or whether Amber and Evan will be more than mere background characters, but there you have it.<\/p>\n

Araya and Jacobson join the series led by John Cena<\/strong>, who reprises his role as Peacemaker, the \u201csuperhero\/supervillain\/and world\u2019s biggest douchebag\u201d who will appear in Gunn\u2019s\u00a0The Suicide Squad<\/em> when it hits theaters and HBO Max this August.<\/p>\n

HBO Max first\u00a0announced the\u00a0Peacemaker<\/em>\u00a0series\u00a0in September, as part of the WarnerMedia<\/a> streaming platform\u2019s strategy to\u00a0spin off its DC properties\u00a0into TV shows that will bring more eyes, and more subscribers, to its service. But Gunn was already ready with a lockdown-written script, and the series quickly came together, with Cena boarding the project alongside\u00a0Danielle Brooks<\/strong>\u00a0(Orange is the New Black<\/em>),\u00a0Robert Patrick<\/strong>\u00a0(Terminator 2: Judgment Day<\/em>),\u00a0Jennifer Holland<\/strong>\u00a0(Brightburn<\/em>),\u00a0Chris Conrad<\/strong>\u00a0(Patriot<\/em>),\u00a0Steve Agee <\/strong>(Guardians of the Galaxy<\/em>), and\u00a0Chukwudi Iwuji\u00a0<\/strong>(When They See Us<\/em>). The series began production\u00a0in January this year and has been steadily shooting since, and we can likely expect more cast members to join as production continues.<\/p>\n

Gunn\u2019s series will show how Peacemaker became \u201ca man who believes in peace at any cost \u2014 no matter how many people he has to kill to get it.\u201d Gunn and\u00a0The Suicide Squad<\/em>\u00a0producer\u00a0Peter Safran<\/strong>\u00a0will serve as executive producers of the series, with Cena as co-executive producer.
\nThe Suicide Squad<\/em> will hit theaters and HBO Max on\u00a0August 6, 2021, <\/strong>and Peacemaker<\/em> is currently slated to arrive in January 2022<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
