He\u2019s also been accused of sexual abuse \u2013 an accusation that\u2019s followed the filmmaker around since the 1990s, but hasn\u2019t really hindered his career until recently. The rise of the #MeToo movement resulted in the spotlight being trained back on Allen, and as a result, Amazon dropped his movie\u00a0<strong><em>A Rainy Day in New York<\/em><\/strong>, his last film to find distribution in the U.S. was 2017\u2019s <strong><em>Wonder Wheel<\/em><\/strong>,\u00a0and several actors who had recently (and not-so-recently) worked with Allen publicly voiced regret. Now, the HBO documentary\u00a0<strong><em>Allen v. Farrow<\/em><\/strong> sheds new light on the abuse allegations against the filmmaker.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Allen_v_Farrow_Trailer\"><\/span><strong>Allen v. Farrow Trailer<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Allen v. Farrow: Official Trailer | HBO\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/cKTOj7HnLbo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\n<!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post -->There are a handful of Woody Allen movies I consider to be genuinely great, but the filmmaker\u2019s entire career has been torpedoed, in my eyes, by sexual abuse allegations that were raised in the 1990s. In August 1992, Allen was accused of sexually molesting\u00a0<strong>Dylan Farrow<\/strong>, his adopted daughter with actress\u00a0<strong>Mia Farrow<\/strong>. Allen denied the allegations, and the\u00a0Connecticut State\u2019s Attorney investigated the allegation but did not press charges.<\/p>\n<p>Now, the docuseries <em>Allen v. Farrow<\/em>\u00a0delves into the case with new investigative work. But while Allen continued to churn out films steadily in the years since, it\u2019s become almost impossible to separate the art from the artist. Of course, there are still plenty of people vocal about their support of Allen and his work \u2013 people who consider the allegations to be flat-out lies concocted by Allen\u2019s former partner Mia Farrow.<\/p>\n<p>But maybe\u00a0<em>Allen v. Farrow<\/em> will put an end to that lingering doubt, which a recently-published review from <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.indiewire.com\/2021\/02\/hbo-allen-v-farrow-review-woody-allen-documentary-1234617113\/\">IndieWire<\/a> says \u201cshould be the final nail in a long unclosed coffin.\u201d Per the official synopsis, the four-part series from\u00a0investigative filmmakers <strong>Kirby Dick<\/strong> &amp; <strong>Amy Ziering<\/strong> and <strong>Amy Herdy<\/strong> \u201cgoes behind decades of sensational headlines to reveal the private story of one of Hollywood\u2019s most notorious and public scandals: the accusation of sexual abuse against Woody Allen involving Dylan, his then seven-year-old daughter with Mia Farrow; their subsequent custody trial, the revelation of Allen\u2019s relationship with Farrow\u2019s daughter, Soon-Yi; and the controversial aftermath in the years that followed. Once celebrated for their on and off-screen partnership, Farrow and Allen\u2019s lives were irrevocably fractured and their sprawling family torn apart with the public disclosure of the abuse allegations and the vitriolic disputes that followed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The docuseries includes \u201cnew investigative work \u2013 meticulously pieced together via intimate home movie footage, court documents, police evidence, revelatory videotape, and never-before-heard audio tapes \u2013\u00a0 with exclusive, in-depth interviews on the subject with Mia Farrow, Dylan Farrow, Ronan Farrow, family friend Carly Simon, prosecutor Frank Maco, relatives, investigators, experts, and other first-hand eyewitnesses \u2013 many of them speaking publicly about the events for the first time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Allen v.
