“#Hasbro scraps Gina Carano’s ‘Star Wars’ action figures<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

Hasbro has scrapp<\/a>ed its plans to make Cara Dune action figures after \u201cThe Mandalorian\u201d actress Gina Carano was fired last week over her controversial social media<\/a> posts, according to a new report.<\/p>\n

Retailer BigBadToyStore revealed Monday that it was forced to cancel preorders of Cara Dune toys because no more would be made. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe\u00a0\u2018Star Wars\u2019\u00a0Black [Series<\/a>] Cara Dune figure was released in 2020 and sold out not long after the inventory was received,\u201d a spokeswoman for\u00a0BigBadToyStore told\u00a0The Hollywood Reporter\u00a0in a Monday email. \u201cHasbro planned for another production run and we were accepting preorders from that production run. Due to recent events, Hasbro was no longer approved to produce any more of this figure.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hasbro did not return requests seeking comment. <\/p>\n

The former mixed martial arts fighter-turned-actress was fired last Tuesday<\/a> from \u201cThe Mandalorian\u201d and all other Star Wars projects after she posted \u201can offensive social media post,\u201d a rep from Lucasfilm confirmed.<\/p>\n

The post included an image from Nazi Germany of a child with a stick chasing a Jewish woman who was strip<\/a>ped down to her underwear. Carano compared the image to today\u2019s overheated political climate.<\/p>\n

\u201cJews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors\u2026. even by children,\u201d Carano wrote next to the image.<\/p>\n

The Lucasfilm rep added that \u201cdenigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.\u201d It was not Carano\u2019s first\u00a0controversial post.\u00a0Carano was also dropped as a client by UTA that same evening.<\/p>\n

The decision polarized Star Wars fans and talking heads alike. Some applauded the action while others expressed outrage, even starting a petition on Change.org<\/a> to bring Carano back to the hit Disney+ series. <\/p>\n

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) was among those who expressed ire over her firing. UFC president Dana White also weighed in on the controversy swirling around his former fighter, showing support for her, while ESPN\u2019s UFC reporter Ariel Helwani, who is Jewish, expressed his disappointment. <\/p>\n

\u201cAs a Jewish person, and as a human being, it just doesn\u2019t sit well,\u201d Helwani said. \u201cAnd I wish she would have never posted that. And quite frankly I wish someone would have talked to her about her social media posts over the past year. Some of them not even political. Just in general<\/a>, they felt off to me. I am sorry she has gone down this path.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cLeave her alone. We make mistakes, we all make mistakes,\u201d White said. \u201cFor everybody to go in on her \u2026 I love how Ariel Helwani made it all about him, such a douche.\u201d<\/p>\n

Carano has shown no contrition after her firing was made public. Instead, on Friday, she called herself a\u00a0victim of cancel culture\u00a0and said she would be teaming up with\u00a0the Daily Wire, the conservative website run by Ben Shapiro, to develop and produce a movie project.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am sending out a direct message of hope to everyone living in fear of cancellation by the totalitarian mob,\u201d she wrote on Twitter Friday. \u201cI have only just begun using my voice which is now freer than ever before, and I hope it inspires others to do the same. They can\u2019t cancel us if we don\u2019t let them.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
