\nIn our time covering celebs we\u2019ve seen a lot of comments about\u00a0Salma Hayek<\/strong> and her husband.<\/p>\n

For those who don\u2019t know, the\u00a0Frida<\/em> star married\u00a0Fran\u00e7ois-Henri Pinault<\/strong> back on Valentine\u2019s Day in 2009, after about two years of being engaged (and after welcoming their daughter Valentina<\/strong>). Because he\u2019s a French billionaire and she\u2019s unquestionably one of the world\u2019s most beautiful women, many have made some pretty big assumptions about their marriage. Trust us, we\u2019ve seen them.<\/p>\n

And on this week\u2019s episode of\u00a0Armchair Expert<\/em> Salma responded to the theories she had married Pinault for his money. On the occasion of her anniversary (or near it at least, we\u2019re not sure when the podcast was recorded), Salma sung her husband\u2019s praises. Well, after host\u00a0Dax Shepard<\/strong> got the ball rolling!<\/p>\n

Dax broached the subject by saying he too had misunderstood the relationship before seeing it firsthand, admitting:<\/p>\n

\u201cCan I say something about your husband, really quick? What a f**king nice, fun, generous, nice warm guy. He\u2019s super sexy too. I\u2019m gonna be honest, I didn\u2019t know who he was, I just heard or maybe read in a headline that you had married a really rich guy. Maybe that\u2019s why she married him. I meet him and I\u2019m like, this guy is so foxy. Oh my God, the confidence, his eyes, he\u2019s so good-looking and charming and I was like, oh, this motherf**ker could\u2019ve been broke. He\u2019s a bombshell.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

After that effusive praise, how could Salma not join in? The 54-year-old agreed:<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know the thing is that in pictures you cannot begin to guess the magic in him. He\u2019s made me become a much better person, and grow in such a good, healthy way.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Awww! But she also made it clear she\u2019s well aware of what everyone thinks:<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I married him, everybody said, \u2018Oh, it\u2019s arranged marriage, she married him for the money.\u2019 I\u2019m like, \u2018Yeah, whatever, bitch. Think what you want.\u2019 15 years together, and we are strong in love. And I don\u2019t even get offended, I\u2019m like, yeah, whatever.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

We love how she says \u201cwhatever\u201d like she doesn\u2019t care \u2014 but adds in the \u201cbitch\u201d so she knows just how much contempt she has for the people out there making an ass out of u and umption.<\/p>\n

She also brought up it\u2019s not just the implication that she\u2019s a gold digger she finds offensive. She gets defensive about what people think about her husband just because of his wealth:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re touching on a very interesting conversation. There is a discrimination also to rich men. Immedia<\/a>tely you think because somebody\u2019s rich, [he] might not be a good person, might be somebody materialistic, might be somebody that doesn\u2019t have values, might be somebody that is even stupid or that doesn\u2019t deserve it. That in order to have a lot of money, you did it the wrong way, there is all this preconceptions and I heard them, by the way\u2026 \u2018They\u2019re controlling, they\u2019re this, they\u2019re that, they\u2019re workaholics.’\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Salma admits she\u00a0had some of the same preconceptions about rich guys, \u201cthe last thing\u201d she wanted to be associated with \u2014 but Fran\u00e7ois-Henri \u201cmelted them all away\u201d with his generosity:<\/p>\n

\u201cMy guy finished work, no matter how hard it was \u2014 and trust me he has a lot of responsibilities \u2014 big smile on his face, happ<\/a>y to be home, happy to see me and the kids, make us laugh. We go on vacation, he completely shuts off, he\u2019s in the moment. It\u2019s not just an insult to me. I\u2019m not the one being judged only. They cannot begin to imagine what a joy that human being is.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Wow.<\/p>\n

In case you didn\u2019t know what responsibilities Pinault has, he\u2019s the CEO of\u00a0Kering<\/strong>, a French Luxury group that owns such high end brands as Gucci<\/strong>, Saint Laurent<\/strong>, Balenciaga<\/strong>, and Alexander McQueen<\/strong>. His personal net worth is estimated around $7 billion. Yes, with a B.<\/p>\n

But Salma is a movie star, and had been for a decade and a half before they got married. So she did have her own money \u2014 and has kept a certain amount of financial independence from her Monsieur. She told Allure<\/em> in 2015:<\/p>\n

\u201cI have a system in my life that I\u2019ve chosen, where my expenses from before the marriage are my expenses. And he goes, \u2018I know. That\u2019s why I want to marry you.\u2019 Maybe that\u2019s also part of what works great in my marriage. I still have my independence, but he likes it. I get a lot of respect from him.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

It sounds like she gets a lot of EVERYTHING from him. Find you a man that can do it all, we guess! (And if he owns Gucci, that\u2019s not a bad thing either!)<\/p>\n
