The Byrde family is taking their final flight with their fourth season. Netflix announced that its critically acclaimed drama series<\/a>\u00a0Ozark<\/em><\/strong> will be ending with a \u201csupersized\u201d season 4, which will run 14 episodes instead of the show\u2019s usual 10. The fourth and final season will be split in two parts, each consisting of seven episodes.<\/p>\n

Netflix has officially announced that\u00a0Ozark<\/em>\u2018s upcoming fourth season will be its last. The streaming giant revealed that\u00a0Ozark<\/em> will end with a \u201csupersized\u201d 14-episode fourth season, which will air in two parts. Netflix did not reveal when\u00a0Ozark<\/em> season 4 would air, but teased that the new season \u201cwill mark the final chapter in the Byrde family\u2019s journey from suburban Chicago life to their criminal enterprise in the Ozarks.\u201d<\/p>\n

After Netflix\u2019s announcement, executive producer and showrunner Chris Mundy<\/strong> said in a statement:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re so happ<\/a>y Netflix recognized the importance of giving \u2018Ozark\u2019 more time to end the Byrdes\u2019 saga right. It\u2019s been such a great adventure for all of us, both on screen and off, so we\u2019re thrilled to get the chance to bring it home in the most fulfilling way possible.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\u201cOzark<\/em> is a gripping drama that has captivated audiences all around the world and garnered tremendous critical acclaim,\u201d said Cindy Holland, Netflix\u2019s vice president of original content. \u201cWe\u2019re so grateful to Chris, Jason, Laura, Julia, and the entire cast and crew for all their tireless dedication to the show and can\u2019t wait to see how the Byrdes\u2019 journey comes to a close.\u201d<\/p>\n

The announcement comes on the heels of executive producer and star\u00a0Jason Bateman<\/strong>\u2018s hints that the acclaimed drama was nearing its endgame<\/a> with the release of season 3, which premiered on Netflix earlier this spring. Bateman teased that the writers operated on the assumption that\u00a0the show would run \u201cthree seasons, four seasons, five seasons, something like that.\u201d Bateman\u2019s vague statement actually turns out to be pretty accurate, as the fourth season will be split into two parts, the latter of which will essentially bring the total to five seasons.<\/p>\n

Ozark<\/em> has been a consistent critical hit for Netflix since the crime drama first debuted on the streamer in 2017, with its second season earning Bateman an Emmy for\u00a0Outstanding Directing in a Drama Series and Julia Garner an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress. Its third season debuted in March to the show\u2019s best reviews yet and is considered an early favorite at this year\u2019s Emmys (should they happen).<\/p>\n

Netflix has not yet announced a production start or a release date for Ozark<\/em>\u00a0season 4.<\/p>\n
