An NYPD cop lectured drivers on the rules of the road Wednesday \u2014\u00a0while app<\/a>earing to forget an important one himself, a new video shows. <\/p>\n

The nearly-minute-long video shared by the 66 Precinct<\/a> starts with one of its officers clicking a button on his phone and talking into the camera while driving his cruiser. <\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, I\u2019m using the hand-free devices, that\u2019s the safe way,\u201d the officer says \u2014\u00a0before staring again into the camera and wagging his finger as the reflection behind him shows he\u2019s still moving. <\/p>\n

\u201cYes, this is Charlie on the Parkway,\u201d he says during his factious phone call to a trucker who failed to yield for a pedestrian. <\/p>\n

\u201cIf I see you driving my way, I want to see you driving the safe way, at 25 miles per hour.\u201d<\/p>\n

State law prohibits<\/a> any \u201cviewing, taking, or transmitting images\u201d on your cell phone while driving.<\/p>\n

Fines start at $50 for the first offense<\/a>, according to the DMV. <\/p>\n

The NYPD did not immedia<\/a>tely respond for comment. <\/p>\n

It appears that the 66th Precinct officer created a hashtag for his routine, CharleyOnTheParkway<\/a>, which he used in a handful of videos of safe driving tips over the last two years.\n <\/div>\n
