TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a> of carefully-designed anticompetitive restrictions.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n      The two companies have been engaged in a legal fight since August 2020, when Apple kicked \u201cFortnite\u201d from the store, and revoked Epic\u2019s developer license after the games maker found a way to circumvent the 30% fee slapped on App Store sellers.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n      Apple alleges that Epic had acted \u201cwith the express intent of violating the guidelines that apply equally to every developer.\u201d The two companies are headed to a U.S. trial due in May.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n      Epic said that it is not seeking damages in its European Union filing, but is asking the Commission to impose \u201ctimely and effective remedies.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>From the archives (December 2020): <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Facebook<\/a>, Google, Apple and Amazon could face multibillion-dollar fines under new EU tech regulations\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"paywall\">\n       <strong>The outlook: <\/strong>Before Epic\u2019s complaint, Brussels had already launched, in June 2020, a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/commission\/presscorner\/detail\/en\/IP_20_1073\" class=\"icon none\">formal investigation<\/a> into the App Store, notably its purchase system. The Commission said it wanted \u201cto ensure that Apple\u2019s rules don\u2019t distort competition in markets where Apple is competing with other app developers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The EU probe will be independent from the U.S. judicial trial.
