A newborn baby was found dead in a Brooklyn dumpster this week after the mom admitted to dumping the child there, cops said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The 27-year-old woman, who lives in NYCHA\u2019s Coney Island Houses on West 28th Street, called police around 4:50 p.m. saying that she had given birth to a child but didn\u2019t know where the infant was, according to police.\u00a0<\/p>\n

She then ultimately confessed to authorities that she dumped the baby \u2014 whose gender was not immedia<\/a>tely known \u2014 in a nearby dumpster.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Officers found the baby unconscious and unresponsive inside.<\/p>\n

It is unclear how the newborn died.<\/p>\n

The mother was taken into custody and brought to the 60th Precinct.\u00a0<\/p>\n

She will at least face charges for improper disposal of human remains \u2014 though more charges are possible depending on how the infant died, according to police.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s got psych issues,\u201d a police source said.<\/p>\n

The medical examiner\u2019s office will determine the child\u2019s cause of death.<\/p>\n
