\nPharoahe Monch made his late-night television debut with his band Th1rt3en on Wednesday (February 17), 30 years after unleashing Organized Konfusion\u2019s self-titled debut album.<\/p>\n

Appearing on\u00a0The Late Show with Stephen Colbert<\/em>\u2019s #PlayAtHome Online Series<\/a>, the trio \u2014 comprised of Pharoahe, renowned guitarist Marcus Machado and Jack White\u2019s drummer Daru Jones \u2014 performed the song \u201cScarecrow\u201d from their latest album A Magnificent Day For An Exorcism.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Produced by Pharoahe ahead of its premiere, the primarily black-and-white affair puts the laser sharp MC\u2019s lyrical prowess on display while sharing the spotlight with his equally talented bandmates.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe intent was to smash like we were on live television,\u201d Pharoahe tells HipHopDX Senior Writer Kyle Eustice. \u201cWe feel comfortable in this space and it all feels perfectly synched into this particular paradigm.\u201d<\/p>\n

A Magnificent Day For An Exorcism<\/em> arrived on January 22 and featured the singles \u201cFight\u201d featuring Cypress Hill, \u201cCult 45\u201d and \u201c666 (Three, Six Word Stories). In a recent interview with DX, Pharoahe spoke about the title of the project.<\/p>\n

In terms of this album, it\u2019s obviously not about some demonic girl,\u201d he said. \u201cThe thinking is, systematically, we need to atone and we need to exorcize these demons or the dark or the negative side. And so, it\u2019s a play on what needs to happen with our system, the way this country was founded. To atone, I think we need to start from the root of it and really operate and kick out the bad part. S<\/p>\n

\u201cSo at least discuss and heal the bad parts \u2014 and that\u2019s where that title comes from, as well as self-atonement, self-exorcism and dealing with and facing one\u2019s demons so to speak. So it\u2019 not about some type of girl\u2019s head spinning, but it does get into what we know as that. And it is aggressively the music is coming at the system to frankly throw holy water on it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Monch and his rhyming partner Prince Po formed Organized Konfusion in the late 80s and released three official studio albums, including 1994\u2019s Stress: The Extinction Agenda\u00a0<\/em>featuring A Tribe Called Quest\u2019s Q-Tip and D.I.T.C rapper O.C.<\/p>\n
