TAMPA \u2014 Luis Severino\u2019s rehab from Tommy John surgery is going as planned, according to Yankees manager Aaron Boone, who said the right-hander is throwing at 120 feet and should be pitching off a mound in the \u201cnext couple of weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Yankees hope to have Severino, who underwent the elbow procedure last February, back by midseason. <\/p>\n

Boone added that he played catch with Severino recently at Steinbrenner Field and he\u2019s \u201cdoing well.\u201d<\/p>\n

In other rehab news<\/a>, since Gio Urshela<\/strong> is coming off elbow surgery, he\u2019s allowed to continue his rehab process at the minor league complex and the third baseman was able to make some strong throws across the infield, further evidence he should be healthy enough to begin the season on time.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s getting real close,\u2019\u2019 Boone said. \u201cWhether we start him in early game<\/a>s this spring remains to be seen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gerrit Cole and Zack Britton are both heavily involved with the MLBPA and expressed concern about the lack of competitiveness among certain teams in the sport, an issue that will be addressed in the next collective bargaining agreement. The current CBA is set to expire in December.<\/p>\n

Cole said one of the issues is veteran players \u201ccontinuously getting pushed out because the\u2026 value of young players is too high\u201d and he worries \u201cwe\u2019re losing generational fans.\u201d<\/p>\n

Britton expressed optimism the two sides would come to an agreement before next season, but said players \u201cwant to see more teams creating good teams and not concerned with draft picks.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pitchers threw bullpen sessions in what the Yankees are calling the \u201cgas station,\u201d a building at their minor league complex that features an array of high-tech equipment.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you\u2019re looking for feedback on certain things [like] delivery or pitch movement, then there\u2019s no better place than \u2026 the gas station,\u2019\u2019 said Britton, who has a similar, albeit smaller, setup at his home in Texas. <\/p>\n
