\n These hip-hop heads are going old-school.<\/p>\n

A pair of rap-loving twins from Gary, Indiana, are going viral with a series<\/a> of moving YouTube<\/a> videos depicting their reactions to hearing oldies for the first time. Despite growing up on hip-hop artists like Twista and Lil Wayne, the modern music aficionados have a newfound app<\/a>reciation for the smash hits from other genres, reports People.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s more than just rap out there,\u201d says Fred Williams, 21, who along with his brother Tim has reviewed everything from Luciano Pavarotti to Prince on their channel TwinsthenewTrend.<\/p>\n

In one of their most popular reaction videos, with over 600,000 views, the self-proclaimed \u201chip-hop heads\u201d can be seen grooving to 1970s soft-rock classic \u201cWe\u2019ve Only Just Begun\u201d by the Carpenters.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis was good,\u201d says Tim, adding, \u201cShout out to the Carpenters.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis was a straight banger,\u201d he comments on footage of Dolly Parton singing \u201cJolene\u201d in a clip seemingly ripped from a \u201cNow That\u2019s What I Call Music\u201d ad targeting younger audiences.<\/p>\n

They\u2019re not just reviewing nostalgic hits for social-media clout. Tim dreamed up the idea 10 months ago to expand the duo\u2019s repertoire of tunes, which was largely limited to church music, reports People.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe wanted to start a new trend to appreciate old music,\u201d Tim tells People, adding that they don\u2019t discriminate when it comes to genre.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy grandfather always used to say to me, \u2018Listen to Frank Sinatra,’\u201d says Tim, who gave a sparkling review to the crooner\u2019s rendition of \u201cI\u2019ve Got You Under My Skin.\u201d<\/p>\n

The youngsters even tackle \u201cNessun Dorma\u201d by Pavarotti, which Tim describes as \u201ccrazy.\u201d \u201cNow I understand what this is,\u201d Fred chimes in, before clarifying \u201cIt\u2019s called opera?\u201d<\/p>\n

Their joint venture is particularly meaningful, as music provided a refuge from the twins\u2019 tumultuous childhood when their mother struggled with drug addiction and even spent time in jail.<\/p>\n

\nTheir mom appreciates her sons channeling their energy constructively. \u201cFrom my own experiences, I\u2019ve taught Tim and Fred how important it is to have a voice,\u201d says Tiffany King-Richardson, 43, who\u2019s been sober and out of jail for 11 years. \u201cI want them to do something in life that they love, and that\u2019s music.\u201d<\/p>\n

In light of nationwide racial tensions, the duo \u201cwants to bring people together because there\u2019s no color to music,\u201d says Tim.<\/p>\n

Their barrier-busting retrospectives appear to be paying dividends on social media.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am so surprised that these two young people didn\u2019t rip the Carpenters apart,\u201d commented one old-timer on their celebration of the contemporary rock legends. \u201cI figure all young people laugh at our old stuff. This made me so happy to see.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYour parents did a great job raising you!\u201d said another. \u201cWe need more young folks like you. I\u2019m subscribing!!\u201d\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
