A separate variant first found in Brazil (P.1) has also been identified in two\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/health\/minnesota-first-us-case-brazil-coronavirus-variant\">states<\/a>. A seven-day average for new cases is also on a decline from some 260,000 daily infections in late December to below 100,000 new cases in recent days, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. The\u00a0dip\u00a0below 100,000 daily new cases in recent days marked a milestone for the first time in months.<\/p>\n<p>Public health experts, including Walensky, have attributed the decreases in cases and hospitalizations to the gradual\u00a0distancing\u00a0away from the holiday season with its <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a> and close indoor gatherings.<\/p>\n<p>The US is now averaging 1.7 million doses of\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/health\/infectious-disease\/coronavirus\">COVID-19<\/a>\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/health\/infectious-disease\/vaccines\">vaccine<\/a>\u00a0administered daily, the White House said Wednesday, up from an average of 900,000 shots per day one month ago. The latest seven-day daily average data reflects an increase of 200,000 doses from the week prior.
