An 86-year-old Queens man was found dead in his home this week \u2014 possibly as a result of a fire sparked by his space heater, authorities said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Cops were conducting a wellness check at James Murphy\u2019s apartment on 194th Street near 50th Avenue in Flushing around 3:10 p.m. Thursday, and needed the FDNY\u2019s help to take down the door, police said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Once inside, they found the octogenarian unconscious and unresponsive, authorities said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

EMS pronounced Murphy dead on scene.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He was discovered with burns on his body and the chair where he was sitting \u2014 right next to a space heater \u2014 was also burned, cops said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

His death did not immedia<\/a>tely app<\/a>ear to be suspicious, but the city medical examiner\u2019s office will officially determine the cause, according to police.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
