New Yorkers whose kin were killed by COVID-19 they contracted in nursing homes reacted with outrage to Gov. Andrew Cuomo\u2019s claim Friday that his critics were \u201ccausing pain to families who lost a loved one.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are sickened by Cuomo\u2019s press conference,\u201d said Vivian Zayas, founder of the Voices for Seniors advocacy group.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe weren\u2019t sure if he was threatening families as we cry out for accountability and justice.\u201d<\/p>\n

Zayas, whose mom, Ana Martinez, died of the coronavirus in Long Island nursing home, added: \u201cThe families who lost family members are the true New York strong. Cuomo is tone-deaf and should resign.\u201d<\/p>\n

Danielle Messina, whose dad, Samuel Arbeeny, died of COVID-19 in a Staten Island nursing home, called Cuomo\u2019s comments \u201cridiculous.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was his March 25 mandate, his order that was responsible for nursing home deaths. It spread like wildfire,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s common sense not to put sick, infected patients back into a facility with vulnerable residents.\u201d<\/p>\n

Messina added: \u201cNow he\u2019s angry and he is trying to put the blame on everyone else. He won\u2019t take accountability for it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cCuomo should definitely resign,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Haydee Pabey, whose mom, Elba, died of COVID-19 in a Manhattan nursing home, said, \u201cCuomo is wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s the one that lied. He\u2019s the one who provided the misinformation. He covered it up,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s one who caused the pain to families of 15,000 COVID victims.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pabey also blasted Cuomo for his repeated attacks on The Post over its aggressive coverage of nursing home deaths.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe New Post has been on its game<\/a>, bringing the issues out and listening to the families. The NY Post has stepped up for us,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t want apologies from Cuomo anymore. We want impeachment or resignation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tracey Alvino, whose father, Daniel Alvino, 76, died in a hospital after getting infected with the coronavirus in a Long Island nursing home, accused the governor of \u201cleveling veiled threats at the media<\/a>, the legislators and even the nursing home families.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cCuomo called us naive for believing `lies and conspiracy theories\u2019. They aren\u2019t conspiracy theories,\u201d Alvino said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis man has no heart. He sent 9,000 COVID patients into nursing homes.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alvino added that \u201cCuomo acts like a bully to anyone who speaks against him.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe First Amendment was written to deal with tyrants like. You can\u2019t threaten people for telling the truth,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m fired up. Our voices just got ten times louder. He\u2019s going to have to be impeached.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fox News<\/a> meteorologist Janice Dean, whose in-laws died both died of COVID-19 in New York nursing homes, live-tweeted criticism of Cuomo during his news conference.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s a disgrace. And a criminal,\u201d she said in one tweet.<\/p>\n

Dean also re-tweeted a reporter who quoted Cuomo\u2019s claim that \u201cI have a very thick skin\u2026.I don\u2019t really care what people say about me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHahahahaha,\u201d she added.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
