“#’Dickinson’s Pico Alexander Breaks Down Filming Lavinia’s Spider Dance for Ship<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

Dickinson<\/em>\u2018s second season has been a rollercoaster for on-again-off-again couple Lavinia (Anna Baryshnikov) and Ship (Pico Alexander).<\/p>\n

After boarding with the Dickinsons at the beginning of this season, Ship set his sights on Lavinia with hopes of finding an subservient and obedient life partner. As fans of the series<\/a> know, that\u2019s not exactly the kind of woman Lavinia is.<\/p>\n

Determined to put his unstable past behind him, Ship could have never anticipated that Lavinia would become fascinated with stories of his ex, Lola Montez, a provocative and well-known historical dancer. \u201cHe thinks she\u2019s one thing, and she\u2019s just so not,\u201d says Alexander of Ship\u2019s impression of Lavinia.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt seems like Lavinia and Ship both serve the same purpose for each other,\u201d he continues, \u201cwhich is to show them what they don\u2019t want in some way.\u201d Despite this truthful observation, it doesn\u2019t stop Ship from seeking out Lavinia in Dickinson<\/em>\u2018s latest episode, \u201cI Like a Look of Agony.\u201d<\/p>\n

When Ship hears about the rumblings of an impending war, he begs for Lavinia back, but she\u2019ll only budge under one condition \u2014 if he accepts all her quirks. In order to prove he will, Ship agrees to sit for a performance which turns out to be Lola\u2019s famous Spider Dance.<\/p>\n

The hilarious and erotic dance set to the aptly titled tune \u201cLola Montez\u201d from Volbeat<\/a> stuns Ship where he sits. While Lavinia previously aspired to be the perfect housewife, she\u2019s since decided to explore herself and push boundaries like her sister Emily (Hailee Steinfeld) does with poetry.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was definitely hard to keep a straight face. It\u2019s hilarious,\u201d Alexander admits. What makes the scene even better is that the actor hadn\u2019t seen it until it was time to film. \u201cIt\u2019s great to see another actor show up on the day with something that they\u2019d been working on in private for however long before you have to shoot the scene.\u201d<\/p>\n

While the scene was certainly a lot of fun to watch, Alexander notes that it\u2019s not always laughs and fun filming such a moment. \u201cThat\u2019s always a little nerve-wracking, to do a dance for somebody,\u201d he says. \u201cSo it\u2019s awkward, and the person doing the performance feels very vulnerable. It\u2019s actually maybe not quite so giggly.\u201d<\/p>\n

Whether it was funny or not, Ship was won over by the performance before the episode\u2019s end, but will it be enough for him to stay with the free-spirited Lavinia? It\u2019s unclear whether Ship\u2019s not sure of what he wants or if his standards are too high, but Alexander says it\u2019s \u201cprobably a bit of both.\u201d See how the pair finish their Season 2 story when the finale episode arrives next week on Apple TV+.<\/p>\n
