I agree, I just think Bitcoin, which is digital fiat, is even more BS than the paper fiat issued by central banks. <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Gold?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Gold<\/a> is not BS. It&#8217;s real money and better than both!<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Peter Schiff (@PeterSchiff) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PeterSchiff\/status\/1362789659802238983?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 19, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>Schiff noted that, \u201cas an engineer\u201d the Tesla founder should know the difference between a \u201ctangible element\u201d and a \u201cstring of numbers,\u201d and said that gold has greater utility relative to Bitcoin.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMoney isn&#8217;t data. Data can represent money but can&#8217;t replace it. Money improved barter, gold improved money, and data improved #gold. Bitcoin is a return to barter. All sellers will accept money. With #Bitcoin you must find a seller who has what you want and wants what you have,\u201d Schiff concluded. <\/p>\n<p>In response, the Tesla founder criticized Schiff\u2019s view of third-party gold storage as an additional layer of trust, saying he \u201cmight as well have crypto.\u201d <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">An email saying you have gold is not the same as having gold. You might as well have crypto.<\/p>\n<p>Money is just data that allows us to avoid the inconvenience of barter.<\/p>\n<p>That data, like all data, is subject to latency &amp; error. Earlier this month Tesla used 7.7% of gross cash on hand to purchase Bitcoin, a sum worth $1.5 billion, and later followed up by saying \u201conly a fool\u201d wouldn\u2019t seek investments beyond fiat. <\/p>\n<p>Schiff, meanwhile, continues to be a punching bag so universal that even shawarma restaurants get in on the fun. While he\u2019s recently admitted that Bitcoin isn\u2019t the scam he once accused it of being, he remains resolutely in favor of physical bullion as an investment.
