Even the Muppets are \u201coffensive\u201d these days.<\/p>\n

Anyone who streams \u201cThe Muppet Show\u201d on Disney+ will see a declaimer first \u2014 warning of \u201coffensive content.\u201d<\/p>\n

Disney released five seasons of the iconic show for streaming on Friday, allowing viewers to enjoy watching Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear and their celebrity guests as part of its $6.99-a-month service.<\/p>\n

The disclaimer shown prior to each episode warns viewers that the show features \u201cstereotypes\u201d and \u201cmistreatment of people or cultures.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis program includes negative depictions and\/or mistreatment of people or cultures. These stereotypes were wrong then and are wrong now,\u201d the disclaimer states.<\/p>\n

\u201cRather than remove this content, we want to acknowledge its harmful impact, learn from it and spark conversation to create a more inclusive future together,\u201d the disclaimer says<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\u201cDisney is committed to creating stories with inspirational and aspirational themes that reflect the rich diversity of the human experience around the globe,\u201d the statement adds. <\/p>\n

It\u2019s unstated precisely what Disney considers to be offensive on the show, but some characters depict Native American, Middle Eastern and Asian people.<\/p>\n

And in season five<\/a>, legendary country singer Johnny Cash is seen performing in front of a Confederate flag<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The warning will also appear before some iconic movies<\/a>, including \u201cAristocats,\u201d \u201cDumbo,\u201d \u201cPeter Pan,\u201d and \u201cSwiss Family Robinson.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
