It\u2019s a question no one was really asking, but one we got the answer to thanks to Pixar\u2019s recently released\u00a0<strong><em>Pixar Remix<\/em><\/strong> video, which condenses the entirety of the beloved 2009 Pixar film into a cheery two-minute anime opening. And it\u2019s awesome. Watch the\u00a0<em>Up<\/em> anime opening below.<span id=\"more-658672\"><\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Pixar_Remix_Up_Anime_Opening\"><\/span>Pixar Remix: Up Anime Opening<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=pB6Q16v1DIg\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=pB6Q16v1DIg<\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Up<\/em>\u00a0just became a viable contender for\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=dobTyzla9bk\">Top 10 Anime OPs<\/a>\u00a0(OP being the industry word for the opening song\/credits of an anime <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a>, for all you non-weebs). Pixar has released a \u201cPixar Remix\u201d of\u00a0<em>Up<\/em>, the 2009 Oscar-winning film directed by <strong>Pete Docter<\/strong>, which imagines the film as an anime, condensing the entirety of the film\u2019s heartbreaking, moving, exhilarating storyline into a fast-paced anime opening credits video, complete with 2D animation style and a peppy <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">theme<\/a> song.<br \/>\n<!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post -->In less than two minutes, we move through the sweet relationship between Carl and Ellie, which quickly takes a turn for the devastating, before we jump right to Carl flying away in his balloon-buoyed house, getting caught in the storm, and finding Paradise Falls. The animation style doesn\u2019t resemble any particular anime, it just looks like\u00a0<em>Up<\/em> has been put through an anime filter (though with greater precision than that). But the opening itself feels very much like an ode to popular shonen anime openings like\u00a0<em>Naruto<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Bleach<\/em>, and more recently,\u00a0<em>My Hero Academia<\/em>. The only thing it\u2019s missing is a voice singing along to the catchy tune, but maybe it\u2019s fitting considering the famously wordless opening sequence of\u00a0<em>Up.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>But there\u2019s one specific reference most people could likely spot in the video: When Charles Muntz appears, the thing goes full\u00a0<em>Dragon Ball<\/em>, with Charles and Carl battling with swords, enveloped by their own color-coded flames \u2014 until they both crack their backs.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a really fun video, but mostly a reminder that I haven\u2019t seen\u00a0<em>Up<\/em> in a while. I totally forgot about that fight sequence, which was admittedly much more tame than the version we see in this anime-style video (it was probably the lasers and flames that caught me off guard).<\/p>\n<p>This isn\u2019t the first time Pixar has remixed one of its own films. The studio previously released a remix of\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=KmYWn0p3Z54\"><em>Wall-E<\/em> as a 16-bit video game<\/a>, which suggests that there will be plenty more to come. But while this\u00a0<em>Up<\/em> remix came as a nice surprise, the video could be a way of building up awareness of the upcoming Dug-centric spin-off series\u00a0<em>Dug Days<\/em>, which will be released on Disney+ in fall 2021.
