\n Author Dan Brown\u2019s ex-wife has accused him in a new lawsuit of secretly siphoning off vast sums of money to conduct \u201csordid, extra-marital affairs\u201d \u2014 including a dalliance with a horse trainer, according to media<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n

Blythe Brown made the salacious allegations against her ex-husband Dan Brown \u2014 whose 2003 novel \u201cThe Da Vinci Code\u201d sold 80 million copies \u2014 in a bombshell lawsuit filed Monday in New Hampshire, The Boston Globe reported.<\/p>\n

The pair divorced last December after more than 21 years of marriage, according to the news<\/a>paper.<\/p>\n

Blythe alleges in the suit that her 56-year-old ex engaged in \u201cunlawful and egregious conduct\u201d that amounted to a \u201cproverbial life of lies\u201d during the final years of their union \u2014 including lavishing extravagant gifts on a Dutch horse trainer, the Globe reported.<\/p>\n

She brought the trainer, identified by the initials JP, from Holland to the U.S. in 2013 to work with a Friesian horse the couple owned, according to the suit filed in Rockingham Superior Court.<\/p>\n

After the pair\u2019s divorce was finalized, Blythe alleges she learned that her then-husband had begun an affair with JP in 2014, the newspaper reported.<\/p>\n

The trainer was recuperating from a shoulder injury in the couple\u2019s New Hampshire at the home.<\/p>\n

Blythe alleges that the bestselling author had diverted large sums of money from their accounts to buy the trainer a $345,000 prize-winning Friesian named \u201cLimiTed Edition,\u201d the report says.<\/p>\n

He also allegedly bought his mistress a new car, a truck and paid for renovations to her Holland home, substantially reducing the marital estate, Blythe Brown argued in the suit.<\/p>\n

After she learned of the alleged affair, she confronted her ex-husband in January 2020, according to the Globe.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve done bad things with a lot of people,\u201d he allegedly told her, admitting he\u2019d also had a tryst with a local hairdresser, the suit alleges.<\/p>\n

She claims she later discovered that these weren\u2019t his only conquests.<\/p>\n

He\u2019d allegedly bedded his personal trainer and a \u201cpolitical official\u201d at the couple\u2019s vacation home in Anguilla, the paper reported.<\/p>\n

In the suit, Blythe says she played a critical part in her husband\u2019s success as his lead researcher. She said she \u201cdeveloped the premise of the critical concepts, historical emphases and complex plot twists\u201d for all his novels \u2014 including \u201cThe Da Vinci Code\u201d which was adapted into a movie of the same name starring Tom Hanks.<\/p>\n

The film was a box-office hit, grossing more than $760 million worldwide.<\/p>\n

Dan Brown has frequently touted his ex-wife\u2019s substantial role in crafting his books, the paper reported.<\/p>\n

After he told her he was unhapp<\/a>y and wanted to separate, Blythe moved out of their New Hampshire home in 2018 and agreed to a quiet divorce.<\/p>\n

In a statement to the Globe, she said it was only after they split that she learned he had allegedly been \u201cleading a double life for years.\u201d<\/p>\n

She\u2019s suing Dan for allegedly misrepresenting the couple\u2019s assets in the divorce and for inflicting emotional distress.<\/p>\n

Dan insisted to the paper that he accurately reported the couple\u2019s assets in the divorce and was \u201cstunned\u201d by his ex-wife\u2019s \u201cfalse claims.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI am saddened that there is not enough goodwill from 21 years of marriage to temper her unfortunate actions,\u201d he said in a statement.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
