The jet is inspected for damage that may have previously gone undetected, as well as for fuel, oil, hydraulic and brake fluid leaks. The following items also are checked to determine if they\u2019re in proper working condition:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Landing gear<\/b>: exposed cables and motors<\/li>\n<li><b>Engines<\/b>: fan blades, structural hardware, de-icing, oil pressure and temperature\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><b>Nose<\/b>: propeller, spinner, alternator belt<\/li>\n<li><b>Tires<\/b>: pressure and tread wear<\/li>\n<li><b>Baggage door<\/b>: securely locked<\/li>\n<li><b>Fuselage or body<\/b>: missing rivets or antennae, dents, loose bolts<\/li>\n<li><b>Right and left wings<\/b>: ailerons, wingtips, flaps, fuel vents, main tires\/brake<\/li>\n<li><b>Tail section<\/b> <b>or empennage<\/b>: rudder, vertical stabilizer\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The last element on the inspection checklist is a final walk-around of the airplane to note any potential issues or damage. When finally cleared for takeoff, wheel chocks and wing tie downs are removed to prepare for taxiing.<br \/>\nPilots will ensure that the transponder is transmitting to radar ground stations and engine instruments are continuously monitored.
