So I decided to give you an insight into living for\u00a03 months\u00a0in Belgium, the land of overindulging with chocolate and goffres. The ERASMUS (<i><b>E<\/b>uropean <b>R<\/b>egion <b>A<\/b>ction <b>S<\/b>cheme for the <b>M<\/b>obility of <b>U<\/b>niversity <b>S<\/b>tudents)<\/i>\u00a0program is a student exchange program in the European Union.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Why Belgium???? First of all, It\u2019s in the middle of Europe so I hoped to <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a> in Belgium and to the surrounding countries.\u00a0Also, I had great references for their internships in the area of physiotherapy. So it was exciting and frightening at the same\u00a0time.\u00a0In terms of the internship itself, I didn\u2019t learn new techniques or skills but\u00a0was surprised by the organization of the hospital and the fact that physiotherapists were specific to a certain area. At that time in Portugal physiotherapists were <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a>ist, the same physiotherapist treated neurological patients and an orthopedic patient. Nowadays it doesn\u2019t work like that anymore, at least in the hospitals or big clinics.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Belgium has two official languages French and Dutch, and in a small part also\u00a0German. There are two distinct regions: the north is mostly a Dutch speaking, Flanders, and the south french speaking, Wallonia. Brussels is bilingual, so a lot of people speak both languages, and for example,\u00a0street signs are in both languages. Belgium had a turbulent history and was dominated by many other countries like\u00a0France, Spain (yes Spain, which\u00a0is quite odd), Germans, Netherlands. It gained its independence in 1830 but was the battlefield of Europe during world war I and II.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"11_Interesting_facts_about_Belgium\"><\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"11_Interesting_facts_about_Belgium\"><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">11 Interesting facts about Belgium<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Flandres and the French are always against each other like a competition or two brothers that are always arguing;<\/li>\n<li>Besides that they are a very tolerant country, there is a diversity of nationalities, Arabs, Africans, Chinese that all live relatively in the community. Never I saw such a mixture of cultures before going to Brussels;<\/li>\n<li>They are very responsible and conscious people. I noticed that in the metro and train everybody paid their ticket and there was barely any control over it<del><\/del>.<\/li>\n<li>The country had a political crisis in 2010 and although\u00a0having no official government for 541 days,\u00a0Belgium people carried on with their life\u00a0and governed themselves.<\/li>\n<li>They take pride in being the Capital of the European Union, headquarters of EU institutions and NATO;<\/li>\n<li>Never tell a Belgian that Jacques Brel is French, they will be offended;<\/li>\n<li>They love beer, really really love it. And have so much variety, in a pub, you will always find a menu with 100 types of beer. Any time of a day is a good time to drink beer, morning, lunch, afternoon you name it! This\u00a0was very confusing for me\u2026\u00a0seeing people drinking beer instead of coffee in the morning;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Bicycles!!<\/strong>\u00a0They love bicycles and use them a lot, to go nearly everywhere. I turned to love going to the internship by bicycle;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Chocolate!<\/strong>\u00a0They really know how to do it right, best chocolate in the world. A major producer\u00a0of chocolate;<\/li>\n<li>Belgium is also the land of comic books. One of the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theinvisibletourist.com\/what-to-see-in-brussels-attractions\/\">things to do in Brussels<\/a> is visiting the headquarters of the European Union. The main attractions are situated in the city center, the <strong>Grand Place<\/strong> where is located in the town hall and the king\u2019s house. Nearby is the <strong>statue of\u00a0Everard\u2019s Serclaes,<\/strong> who was a local hero. At first, it was a fountain that played an essential role in the former distribution of drinking water. They are the best street food! The Belgian don\u2019t\u00a0consider them a side dish but the dish per se.
