\n A big piece of LGBTQ New York history will live on \u2014 for now.<\/p>\n

The Stonewall Inn \u2014 facing an uncertain future after shutting down during the coronavirus pandemic \u2014 has raised more than $300,000 through a GoFundMe campaign and will additionally receive a $250,000 donation from the Gill Foundation.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re so happ<\/a>y and thankful \u2014 it\u2019s a wonderful thing,\u201d co-owner Stacy Lentz tells The Post. \u201cIt\u2019s providing a lifeline, quite frankly, that we desperately need.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, the Greenwich Village institution \u2014 designated the country\u2019s first historic LGBTQ landmark in 2016 \u2014 isn\u2019t out of the woods just yet.<\/p>\n

The site of the 1969 Stonewall Riots already was four months behind on rent \u2014 which runs more than $40,000 a month \u2014 even as NYC Pride festivities came to a close this past weekend. Being shut down for months at a time means no revenue coming in and expenses like insurance, utilities, inventory and more piling up.<\/p>\n

Celebrities including former President Barack Obama, Taylor Swift, Demi Lovato, Katy Perry and Cynthia Erivo also took part in a two-hour livestream last Friday to help raise funds.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Gill money and the community support \u2014 these things will help us get through,\u201d says Lentz, who says the $250,000 donation is specifically earmarked for rent. \u201cA lot of people likely think, \u2018Well, that\u2019s a lot!\u2019 But to be honest, there are a lot of costs involved.\u201d<\/p>\n

And while the bar starting selling \u201cto-go\u201d drinks about two weeks ago, that doesn\u2019t bring in nearly as much money as a fully operating business. As such, Lentz says she doesn\u2019t \u201csee a foreseeable way out of this probably until there\u2019s a vaccine\u201d for COVID-19 and the bar can operate at 100% capacity again.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe just don\u2019t see a normal operating business until there\u2019s a vaccine; it\u2019s just not gonna happen,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, Lentz says they will soldier on.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re not going to let it die. We\u2019re hopeful. We\u2019re grateful,\u201d she says. \u201cIt\u2019s a living, breathing piece of history, and it just means so much to our community globally. We\u2019re just trying to do everything we can to raise enough funds to make sure that we can get through no matter what\u2019s thrown at us.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
