\n Walk that<\/em> way? Fuhgeddaboudit.<\/p>\n

A local business group has placed stickers with red arrows that read \u201cOne way\u201d and \u201cThis way please\u201d on dozens of sidewalks in and around the Financial District.<\/p>\n

But in true New York fashion, many locals aren\u2019t following them.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve noticed them. Nobody follows them. Look, you\u2019ve got people coming down right now,\u201d said one neighborhood resident, who declined to give her name, as a succession of people marched east over an arrow pointed west at Broad Street and Exchange Place.<\/p>\n

In a June 15 press release, the Downtown Alliance said it created 30 one-way sidewalks \u201cto help pedestrians navigate the neighborhood\u2019s narrow passages while maintaining safe distances from others\u201d amid the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n

The arrows typically point in opposite directions on opposite sidewalks of the same street.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t really tell if people are following it or not,\u201d one doorman at a residential building on Wall Street said of the decals.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome follow the rules, some not. Who knows why?\u201d he added, noting that maybe half the people who walk by his building are wearing masks.<\/p>\n

The Downtown Alliance also added hand-sanitizing stations around the area and has been handing out masks, according to its release.<\/p>\n

The organization did not immedia<\/a>tely return a request for comment.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
