Spanish trail in Malaga, Andalusia. It\u2019s one of the most popular trails in Spain. Let\u2019s see if it lives to its reputation as one of the best in the world, exploring its history, the views, what it has to offer!<\/p>\n<p>Caminito Del Rey was once famous for being extremely dangerous, it was even named the world\u2019s most dangerous walkway. As its reputation rose\u00a0it became even more attractive for\u00a0adrenaline junkies and adventurous people in <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Eventually, it was closed for\u00a0several years and in 2015\u00a0it was reopened after extensive renovation! The new Caminito del Rey is perfectly safe and all about lovely trails, hanging bridges and footpaths. There\u2019s less adrenaline but the views are still there!<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Caminito_Del_Rey_History_And_Deaths\"><\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Caminito_Del_Rey_History_And_Deaths\"><\/span>Caminito Del Rey History And Deaths<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The first trail was built at the beginning of the 20th century and it was used by the workers of the Dams in the El Chorro as access to them, both during the construction and later the maintenance.<\/p>\n<p>In 1921 the King of Spain used the path to reach the new dams and inaugurate them. From this moment on, it was named the Caminito del Rey, The King\u2019s little path.<\/p>\n<p>However, as time passed the trail lost popularity and the concrete catwalk began to degrade and became abandoned until it was completely unsafe and became the infamous \u201cmost dangerous trail in the world\u201d. Eventually, it was closed in 2001 after the death of a few hikers\u2026<\/p>\n<p>In 2015 it reopened with a new face. It\u2019s a linear route with\u00a0two entrances (north &amp; south) but nowadays you can only enter through North and exit through South.<\/p>\n<p>After the refurbishment, the new wooden pathways are now perfectly safe. However,\u00a0nowadays under the safety of the new infrastructure, you can enjoy the unbelievable beauty of El Chorro gorge. Yet, you will still feel quite adventurous for walking on a wooden path 100 meters high with the wind blowing your face. We read so many posts and articles about it. About its history, about being closed and now reopened with a fresh new face.<\/p>\n<p>It may not be the world\u2019s scariest hike anymore, but the real\u00a0attraction is still there! The uncanny beautiful narrow gorge and the possibility to walk through it at 100 meters high, enjoying a different point of view. We are actually in the gorge, almost being part of it. Not on the river or from a far way viewpoint.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s now perfectly safe (you get\u00a0a helmet and all) but we still found ourselves adventurous while walking through it. If you are planning on going to <strong>Andalusia<\/strong>, you really shouldn\u2019t miss this. We strongly advise you to\u00a0buy the bus ticket, you will have to return and walking back won\u2019t be as fun as the trail \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>Note that you have to book it in advance\u00a0on its <span class=\"removed_link\" title=\"https:\/\/www.caminitodelrey.info\/en\">official site<\/span>. Be aware that tickets\u00a0are limited to\u00a050 each half an hour\u00a0and the trail is becoming a big attraction!
