“#NYC man charged in broad-daylight heist at SoHo Chanel store<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

A Brooklyn man has been nabbed for the brazen broad-daylight heist of a SoHo Chanel store, officials said Monday \u2014 weeks after he allegedly bragged on social media<\/a> about having enough luxury loot to \u201copen a small boutique.\u201d<\/p>\n

Eric Spencer, 29, was arrested on robbery charges in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Saturday, according to Manhattan prosecutors.<\/p>\n

Spencer and three cohorts are accused of snatching $189,500 worth of pricey goods from the swanky Spring Street shop on Feb. 2, a criminal complaint said.<\/p>\n

When a security guard confronted Spencer, he allegedly barked, \u201cWhat are you going to do? Shoot me?\u201d before reaching into his waistband, where the handle of a gun was visible.<\/p>\n

\u201cNobody touch me!\u201d he allegedly yelled. \u201cGet everything! Grab everything!\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

The next day, Spencer bragged on social media about pocketing so many \u201cDouble C\u201d items that he could \u201copen a small boutique,\u201d according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

He will app<\/a>ear in federal court in the Sunshine State Monday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Investigators are also eyeing Spencer in connection to several other high-profile cases, police sources said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Chanel robbery was part of a pattern that began in September, involving mask-wearing thieves entering high-end stores to swipe items before fleeing in cars rented with fake IDs and bearing phony license plates.<\/p>\n

Spencer\u2019s three accomplices are still on the loose.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs alleged, Eric Spencer put the public and store personnel in grave danger when he committed a brazen daylight armed robbery of a SoHo boutique earlier this month,\u201d US Attorney Audrey Strauss said in a statement. \u201cNow the FBI and NYPD have grabbed Spencer, who is in federal custody and awaiting his day in court.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a statement, NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea said the bust \u201chighlights the importance of good investigative work and the continuing efforts of the FBI-NYPD Joint Major Theft Task Force.\u201d<\/p>\n

FBI Assistant Director William F. Sweeney Jr. described the heist as a \u201cviolent takeover of a retail store.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMr. Spencer\u2019s alleged actions violated federal law, and he is now in our custody,\u201d he said. \u201dFor others who plan to behave in the same manner, listen up \u2013 the FBI is committed to using every tool at our disposal to hold violent criminals accountable for their decisions, and our partnership with the NYPD is airtight.\u201d<\/p>\n

Spencer faces up to 20 years in prison, if convicted.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
