A 4-year-old UK girl hanged herself in a tree accidentally just days after becoming a sister to twins \u2013 and her mom has now spoken about her \u201chellstorm of grief\u201d following the tragedy.<\/p>\n

Freya Thorpe was wearing a bicycle helmet when she climbed a tree near her home in Upper Heyford, Oxfordshire, in September 2019, South West News<\/a> Service reported.<\/p>\n

She slipped and fell but her helmet strap caught on the tree and she died despite efforts by emergency responders.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am a broken individual, caught in a hellstorm of grief,\u201d Freya\u2019s mom Elise said, The Sun reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe live every day and night in hell, torture, sheer shock and grief that can\u2019t be comprehended,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The devastated mother told SWNS that she and her husband \u201cwere on cloud nine after the long-awaited arrival and difficult pregnancy\u201d of twins Kiera and Zack \u2014 and added that she would have taken her own life had she not given birth 10 days earlier.<\/p>\n

\u201cA brother and sister that Freya had awaited so patiently for nine long and difficult months to become a big sister,\u201d she told the outlet.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the early afternoon daddy had to go off to collect the special milk from Boots Pharmacy in Cowley for the twins as they were allergic to cows\u2019 milk,\u201d Elise recounted.<\/p>\n

Freya had been invited to a play date at a house a \u201c10-second\u201d walk away on a cul-de-sac where parents \u201c\u2018confidently let their children out to play,\u201d the mother said.<\/p>\n

But on the fateful day, Freya ventured outside without her mother knowing.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had a gut feeling I wanted her home. Shortly after, I saw an ambulance at the end of the road \u2013 I panicked, at the time not knowing why I was panicking,\u201d Elise told SWNS.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cI called my husband to say I was going to get her back from the house behind. He said, \u2018No, I\u2019m five minutes away, stay with the babies,\u2019\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI saw his car go past and not return from the little cul-de-sac. I knew something was wrong,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

When she saw her husband with a firefighter, she grabbed the twins and rushed to a cordoned area where she saw first responders working desperately on Freya.<\/p>\n

After waiting at John Radcliffe Hospital for two days, she and her husband were told their daughter could not be saved.<\/p>\n

\u201cI never stepped foot inside my home again. This is something I also lost and miss to this day \u2014 my home,\u201d Elise said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHad I not given birth only 10 days before we would have taken our lives in the hospital that night, without a shadow of a doubt,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have had so much support over the last 18 months and we can\u2019t tell you all how much that\u2019s helped us through and for that I can never thank everyone enough for the support, kind words and donations \u2013 even from those we\u2019ve never met,\u201d the mother continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut we\u2019ve also experienced scrutiny and abuse from people who\u2019ve asked, \u2018Where were the parents? How could they let her out alone?\u2019\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt has caused family rifts from relatives and judgment all because people didn\u2019t know Freya wasn\u2019t in our care when this happ<\/a>ened.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
