“#FKA twigs Says She\u2019s Making a Martial Arts TV Show for FX<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

FKA twigs has revealed that she is working on a martial arts TV show for FX. Interviewed by Michaela Coel for The Face<\/em><\/a>, twigs said the show is based on the \u201cdeep connection\u201d between \u201cthe Black community and the Chinese martial arts community.\u201d Pitchfork has emailed representatives for twigs and FX for more details.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s like a martial arts TV series<\/a> which is very much centred around outsiders,\u201d twigs said. \u201cAnd the idea of wanting to fit in but not being able to. I\u2019ve been putting a lot of research into the way that the Black community and the Chinese martial arts community have a really deep connection. It goes into music: the Wu-Tang Clan came together almost through martial arts.\u201d<\/p>\n

Of course, twigs herself ventured into the martial arts around her 2020 album MAGDALENE<\/em>, performing spectacular swordplay and dance moves in her live show and videos. Elsewhere in the interview, twigs said she has a song on the way with the UK rap innovator Pa Salieu, of whom twigs and Coel express their fandom. \u201cI feel like there\u2019s a lot of love and joy in his music, but it still feels like he\u2019s very truthful to his experience,\u201d said twigs. \u201cI think I\u2019m really craving truth, which can be dark, but it\u2019s not grim, it\u2019s not heavy. He tells the truth and it\u2019s got depth.\u201d<\/p>\n
