It\u2019s an ancient religious temple\u00a0located high on a hill on the west of Kathmandu city. As the name says there are usually many <strong>monkeys<\/strong> inside, which are considered <strong>sacred<\/strong>, and it occupies a central position in the <strong>Tibetan<\/strong> <strong>Buddhist<\/strong>. To visit it you\u2019ll have to climb 365 steps, but \u2026 what is it for someone willing to do trekking in the Himalayas? It\u2019s located about 11 km from the Thammel district and you can get there by taking a bus line from <strong>Ratnaparko<\/strong>\u00a0or a taxi for about 3 euros. For those who\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0mind up getting up early, every morning at 7 there\u2019s\u00a0a ritual in which people walk three or more times around the stupa as the famous <strong>Om Mani Padme Um<\/strong> mantra is repeated and paint pots are spilled inside. It\u2019s a fairly large garden ideal for a <strong>break<\/strong> from the bustling activity of the city amongst its beautiful green spaces. A good place to <strong>relax<\/strong> or <strong>hike<\/strong> after having been walking through the alleys of Thammel. The most typical are: the traditional <strong>Dal Bath<\/strong> (cooked rice, lentil soup, vegetables and potatoes) that, as you will realize, is what basically Nepalis always eat; or also the <strong>momos<\/strong> (also called gyoza or dumplings) with different shapes and ingredients, the <strong>rotis<\/strong> (a kind of bread) cooked by\u00a0kilns artisans and the different vegetables <strong>curries<\/strong>, potatoes, cheese, etc (Aloo Gobi, Aloomutter, etc) typical of Indian cuisine.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"7_Take_a_walk_in_the_Ratnapark\"><\/span>7.\u00a0Take a walk in the <strong>Ratnapark<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It is one of the largest green spaces in Kathmandu. It was built for <strong>children<\/strong> and is named Ratna, the second <strong>wife\u00a0<\/strong>of King <strong>Mahendra<\/strong>.
