Nurse practitioner Nic Nevin (Emily VanCamp<\/a>) returns to work on perhaps the worst day possible on The Resident<\/em><\/a>: It\u2019s the same day the man who stabbed her is admitted to the ER.<\/p>\n

Yes, that means she\u2019ll be facing her trauma head-on in the March 9 episode, \u201cFirst Days, Last Days\u201d \u2014 and therefore this storyline continues to remind us of ER<\/em><\/a>\u2018s John Carter (Noah Wyle<\/a>) and Lucy Knight (Kellie Martin<\/a>) getting stabbed and the former running into their attacker at the hospital in a subsequent season.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s definitely suffering from a bit of PTSD from it, but Nic\u2019s also just trying to move ahead and move on,\u201d VanCamp told TV Insider. How will seeing her attacker again affect that? Check out the photos below for a look at Nic back at work.<\/p>\n

Also glimpsed in the images from this episode is new intern Leela (Anuja Joshi), who \u201cstruggles and shines throughout her first day, causing Devon [Manish Dayal] and Conrad [Matt Czuchry<\/a>] to wonder if something bigger is going on,\u201d the logline teases.<\/p>\n

\u201c[Leela] is a very complicated and interesting person with an obstacle in her own life she has to overcome,\u201d co-creator Amy Holden Jones shared before the premiere of the character who will factor into Devon\u2019s love life this season.<\/p>\n
