“#NBC pulls \u2018Nurses\u2019 episode accused of being anti-Semitic<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

NBC\u00a0has reportedly pulled an episode of the show \u201cNurses\u201d after backlash from critics who said a scene was anti-Semitic.<\/p>\n

The season finale, Deadline reported<\/a>, was pulled from the network\u2019s digital platforms as Jewish organizations criticized a scene in which an Orthodox Jewish character named Israel refuses a bone graft for his leg during a hospital stay.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe graft, where does it come from?\u201d the character asks before a medical pro explains the graft would be \u201charvested from a deceased donor\u201d so that he would be able to \u201cwalk again.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cA dead goyim leg \u2026 from an Arab, a woman,\u201d the patient\u2019s father says in the clip, to which a nurse responds: \u201cOh, God forbid, an Arab woman.\u201d<\/p>\n

The scene received criticism from national Jewish groups like the\u00a0Simon Wiesenthal Center and StopAntisemitism.org.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe writers of this scene check all the boxes of ignorance and pernicious negative stereotypes right down to the name of the patient, Israel \u2014 payouts [sidelocks] and all,\u201d the Simon Wiesenthal Center said in a statement. \u201cIn one scene, NBC has insulted and demonized religious Jews and Judaism.\u201d<\/p>\n

The scene first aired Feb. 9, according to The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>, and was initially called out by the website\u00a0Jew in the City<\/a>.<\/p>\n

NBC has not returned The Post\u2019s request for comment.<\/p>\n

However, an anonymous source from the network told Deadline that they have been contacted by several Jewish groups regarding the episode and \u201cwere keen to have conversations with them about the topic.\u201d The Canadian series<\/a> is produced by ICF Films and eOne in association with Corus Entertainment, according to Deadline, and was used by NBC \u201cto fill a hole in a primetime lineup that had been derailed by the coronavirus pandemic.\u201d<\/p>\n

The NBC source also told the outlet it will not re-air the episode again, but footage still remains on Twitter<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The uproar over \u201cNurses\u201d comes just days after NBC\u2019s sketch show \u201cSaturday Night Live\u201d aired a \u201cWeekend Update\u201d skit about the COVID-19 vaccine that critics also dubbed anti-Semitic.<\/p>\n

\u201cIsrael is reporting that they\u2019ve vaccinated half of their population. I\u2019m going to guess it\u2019s the Jewish half,\u201d Michael Che said in the joke.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
