Sen. Ted Cruz will have an even tougher time beating his critics away with a stick. <\/p>\n

A Dallas store is selling pi\u00f1atas in his image in the wake of his ill-conceived jaunt to Cancun, Mexico.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe just see it as something trending in the news<\/a>, and want to provide a good laugh for people during these difficult times,\u201d Carlos De La Fuente, one of the owners of ABC Party HQ, told Newsweek<\/a> on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The 3.5-foot-tall pi\u00f1ata, which sells for $100, depicts the embattled pol wearing the gray polo shirt, jeans, gray sneakers and Texas flag mask he wore on his return trip<\/a> from Cancun last week.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s holding a US passport in one hand and pulling a rolling suitcase with the other.<\/p>\n

\u201cABC is always trying to stay on top of what is trending on social media<\/a> or the news,\u201d De La Fuente said, adding that the store has already seen a lot of preorders for the pi\u00f1ata.<\/p>\n

The Texas GOPer has been doing damage control\u00a0after he was caught flying to the Mexican resort city with his wife and two daughters, ages 10 and 12, days after Texas was\u00a0crippled by a once-in-a-lifetime winter storm.<\/p>\n

He was forced to cut his trip short,\u00a0flying back home the very next day, and issue an apology.<\/p>\n

Cruz came under intense scrutiny over the optics of the mini-vacation \u2014 and for\u00a0leaving the family pooch, Snowflake, home\u00a0alone with no power or heat.<\/p>\n

\u201cApp<\/a>arently, I fed Snowflake to the wolves,\u201d Cruz said, brushing off the backlash. \u201cHe was home with a dog sitter. The heat was kind of back on. The whole thing is a bit absurd.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also has said that his wife, Heidi, was \u201cpissed\u201d that texts\u00a0showing her inviting neighborhood pals\u00a0on the family\u2019s trip had been leaked to the media.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
