The wife of an American Airlines executive shot dead in Texas played the grieving widow on TV \u2014 only for cops to discover she was allegedly having \u201ca full-blown emotional affair\u201d with his accused killer, authorities said Thursday.<\/p>\n

Jennifer Lynne Faith, 48, was hit Wednesday with federal obstruction of justice charges in the Oct. 9, 2020, death of her 49-year-old hubby James \u201cJamie\u201d Faith, according to the Department of Justice<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Federal prosecutors charge that she communicated with the alleged gunman, her high school sweetheart, and pushed him to get rid of evidence \u2014 all while publicly pleading for information about the case.<\/p>\n

Her husband James, an IT director for the airline, was gunned down while the couple were out on a morning walk with their dog in their Dallas neighborhood.<\/p>\n

\u201cI heard running behind me, and I turned around and all of a sudden\u00a0somebody just started shooting at him,\u201d\u00a0Jennifer told local outlet NBCDFW<\/a> in December.<\/p>\n

She pleaded for anyone with information about the case to come forward.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy hope is that someday perhaps the person will realize the gravity of what they\u2019ve done,\u201d she said. \u201cHe was just the backbone of our family. It was just devastating.\u201d<\/p>\n

Investigators on Jan. 11 arrested Darrin Ruben Lopez, a 48-year-old Tennessee man, and charged him with the fatal shooting.<\/p>\n

He and Jennifer had dated in high school and college, according to an arrest warrant affidavit<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Authorities said that Lopez allegedly drove from Tennessee to Dallas and laid in wait for the couple before shooting James seven times and fleeing the scene.<\/p>\n

Cops discovered that between Sept. 30 and Oct. 30, 2020, Lopez and his victim\u2019s wife exchanged\u00a0some 14,363 calls and texts the affidavit states.<\/p>\n

While being questioned by detectives in January, Jennifer allegedly admitted that she communicated daily with Lopez, though denied an intimate relationship, authorities said.<\/p>\n

But investigators seized Lopez\u2019s cellphone after his arrest and discovered the pair were actually \u201cintimately involved,\u201d according to prosecutors.<\/p>\n

Their texts allegedly revealed how Jennifer would update her beau on her efforts to cash in on James\u2019 life insurance policy, and how she coached him to respond to\u00a0potential\u00a0police questioning.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf asked about you, you are an old friend going through a divorce\u2026 If it ever comes to it, I\u2019ll answer the same way,\u201d she allegedly wrote, according to court documents.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust so you and I have the same explanations. Just thinking in case they [law enforcement] pulled phone records and asked,\u201d the texts added. \u00a0<\/p>\n

She also allegedly instructed Lopez to get rid of a \u201cT\u201d decal on the back window of his truck \u2014 identical to the one witnesses had reported seeing on the shooter\u2019s pickup, prosecutors said.<\/p>\n

Investigators said that Jennifer allegedly wiped her phone, but they were able to recover her texts with Lopez.<\/p>\n

She was arrested at her Oak Cliff home on Wednesday and was expected to app<\/a>ear before a judge on Friday. <\/p>\n

\u201cEven as she publicly claimed she was \u2018desperate for answers\u2019 regarding her husband\u2019s murder, Jennifer Faith was communicating with the alleged killer, actively urging him to destroy evidence and attempting to delete incriminating communications from her phone,\u201d\u00a0US Attorney Prerak Shah said in a statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cThanks to the dedication of our agents and officers, Ms. Faith could not keep law enforcement from identifying her husband\u2019s killer.\u201d<\/p>\n

Her defense attorney, Toby Shook, said he couldn\u2019t comment on the arrest, according to local reports. He has\u00a0told WFAA-TV<\/a>\u00a0that his client is innocent and is fully cooperating.\n <\/div>\n
