military from the social network amid violent protests against the coup that was carried out there this month.<\/p>\n<p>The Silicon Valley giant also booted the Tatmadaw armed forces from Instagram over concerns that the military\u2019s posts on the platforms would lead to real-world violence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe believe the risks of allowing the Tatmadaw on Facebook and Instagram are too great,\u201d Facebook said in a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/about.fb.com\/news\/2021\/02\/an-update-on-myanmar\/\">blog post<\/a> late Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Facebook said it\u2019s also kicked military-controlled state and media entities off the platforms and banned ads from commercial entities linked to the Tatmadaw.<\/p>\n<p>Myanmar\u2019s army <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-myanmar-politics-facebook\/facebook-bans-myanmar-military-from-its-platforms-with-immediate-effect-idUSKBN2AP0BK\">seized power<\/a> on Feb. 1 as it claimed the country\u2019s Nov. 8 election, which was swept by leader Aung San Suu Kyi\u2019s National League for Democracy, was fraudulent.<\/p>\n<p>The coup drew international condemnation and sparked massive demonstrations in which at least three protesters and one policeman have been killed.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img Images\/LightRocket via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Facebook said it based its decision to ban the Tatmadaw on \u201cthe clear risk of future military-initiated violence in Myanmar, where the military is operating unchecked and with wide-ranging powers,\u201d as well as the military\u2019s history of \u201cexceptionally severe\u201d human rights abuses.<\/p>\n<p>The Tatmadaw and its affiliated accounts and pages have also violated Facebook\u2019s policies since the coup by trying to rebuild networks of \u201ccoordinated inauthentic behavior\u201d and sharing harmful content, Facebook said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe coup greatly increases the danger posed by the behaviors above, and the likelihood that online threats could lead to offline harm,\u201d the Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The ban does not <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ly to government agencies that support essential public services, such as the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health and Sport, Facebook said.<\/p>\n<p>This isn\u2019t the first time Facebook has taken action against Myanmar\u2019s military.
