“#Maria Bello Talks About Jack & Gibbs’ ‘Great Love’ \u2014 and Where She’s Headed Post-‘NCIS’<\/strong>”

It\u2019s no secret that Maria Bello is leaving long-running crime procedural NCIS<\/em> on which she\u2019s played smart, savvy forensic psychologist \u201cJack\u201d Sloane since 2017. The actress even shared pics of her emotional final day on set on her Instagram account this past December.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve had this commitment for years to make a movie, The Woman King<\/i>, with Viola Davis,\u201d Bello tells TV Insider. \u201cIt\u2019s a female Braveheart<\/i> based on 5,000 women warriors in [the 18th- and 19th-century African kingdom of] Dahomey, modern-day Benin. The French said they were the biggest badasses they\u2019d ever fought.\u201d<\/p>\n

Also on the docket, she says, a pilot in Haiti that combines her love of \u201cadventure travel<\/a> and women\u2019s history.\u201d<\/p>\n

But first, on March 2 her character has a major NCIS<\/em> episode, when she and head honcho Gibbs (Mark Harmon) go to Afghanistan after Sloane\u2019s old friend and a busload of schoolgirls she was chaperoning are kidnapp<\/a>ed. (The Taliban may be involved.)<\/p>\n

\u201c[Gibbs and Sloane] want to do this mission together,\u201d Bello says. \u201cPeople ask, \u2018Are they sleeping together?\u2019 Safe to say [this episode] will be a continuation of that great love they have for each other.\u201d<\/p>\n
