A man wanted in connection in the death of his elderly mother was fired from the NYPD more than a decade ago, The Post has learned.<\/p>\n

Osvaldo Diaz\u2019s mother, Maria, was found dead in her second-floor apartment above a deli on Hillside Avenue in Jamaica Wednesday evening, cops said. <\/p>\n

The 78-year-old woman had a gash on her head and, sources told The Post, a machete was found inside her home, She was pronounced dead at the scene, cops said. <\/p>\n

Osvaldo Diaz, 45, who sources said worked more than 12 years ago as a cop in Midtown North Precinct, is the main suspect in his mother\u2019s murder. <\/p>\n

A spokeswoman from the NYPD confirmed Diaz was hired in July 2005 and fired in January of 2008.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
