Last week, Warner Bros. Pictures debuted the first trailer for the latest big screen adaptation of the Mortal Kombat<\/strong><\/em> video game<\/a> franchise. There was a lot of excitement following the trailer\u2019s debut, mostly because it was a red band trailer that didn\u2019t hold back on the blood and gore of the fights between otherworldly warriors. In fact, the hype was so high that Mortal Kombat<\/em> now has the honor of being the most watched red band trailer of all time, beating out both Logan <\/em>and Deadpool 2<\/em>.<\/em>

Deadline reported the Mortal Kombat<\/em> trailer viewership numbers, and the official Twitter<\/a> account celebrated:<\/p>\n

\nIn its first week, the Mortal Kombat<\/em> red band trailer rounded up 116 million views, trended in 52 total markets around the world on YouTube, and 28 markets on Twitter. It certainly helps that the video game franchise has been around since 1992, and there hasn\u2019t been a proper big screen adaptation of it in early 25 years. Fans are hungry to see this video game franchise stick the landing on the big screen.<\/p>\n

Deadline even pointed out that Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter praised the trailer. I don\u2019t know about you, but I feel like I can\u2019t get properly excited about a movie unless Nick Carter chimes in. Not only is he larger than life, but he wants it that way. But he hasn\u2019t said anything about Tom and Jerry<\/em> coming to HBO Max today, and I wish he\u2019d quit playing games with my heart.<\/p>\n
