If all breaks right for Luka Doncic, he can dream of one day matching Steve Nash as an eight-time NBA All-Star, two-time MVP and Hall of Famer.<\/p>\n

So, it\u2019s noteworthy that Nash \u2014 in his first season coaching the Nets \u2014 sounds almost envious of Doncic\u2019s talent and make-up, from one guard to another.<\/p>\n

\u201cLuka is one of the most exciting talents we\u2019ve seen,\u201d Nash said after Friday\u2019s practice to prepare for facing Doncic and the Mavericks on Saturday night. \u201cDo I see some of myself in him? If I were 6-foot-8 and 230 pounds, yeah. That\u2019s a big difference when you\u2019re 6-foot-2, 175 pounds.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mavericks owner Mark Cuban and team president Donnie Nelson started the Nash-Doncic comparisons after a trade with the Hawks to acquire their new star during the 2018 NBA Draft. As Doncic burst onto the scene as a rookie, Nash, who was working for the Warriors as a consultant at the time, upped the ante by calling him \u201cmaybe the best 20-year-old the NBA has ever seen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Doncic will turn 22 on Sunday, and Nash\u2019s high praise for the two-time All-Star hasn\u2019t waned. Doncic has 33 career trip<\/a>le-doubles in the regular season and postseason combined \u2014 the most in NBA history at his age.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat is such a weapon to be able to have that size, physicality, skill and feel for the game<\/a> \u2014 and his personality,\u201d Nash said. \u201cHe has a personality at such a young age to be able to take over NBA games. Very, very special repertoire or skill-set. He is a very, very unique player, even historically.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kevin Durant\u2019s extended injury absence is the headline-grabber, but the Nets also could be without forward Jeff Green for a second straight game. He is listed as questionable with a right-shoulder contusion.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re optimistic he\u2019ll be back soon,\u201d Nash said. \u201cI can\u2019t say for sure, but I think the feeling is that every day he\u2019s getting better, not more concerned. Hopefully, he\u2019s back quickly here. But, long-term, we don\u2019t feel like this is a situation that can snowball into something worse.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Nets are shopping Spencer Dinwiddie as the March 25 trade deadline app<\/a>roaches, according to an ESPN report.<\/p>\n
