Aligned in their third NBA organization together, Tom Thibodeau and Derrick Rose clearly trust each other.<\/p>\n

The 32-year-old point guard, who was obtained by the Knicks earlier this month, moved seamlessly into the starting lineup in place of injured starter Elfrid Payton in Thursday\u2019s win over the Kings.<\/p>\n

After overcoming multiple knee injuries, Rose no longer is the same dynamic player who became the youngest MVP in NBA history at age 22 in 2010-11 during Thibodeau\u2019s first season as head coach of the Bulls. But their familiarity with each other \u2014 including another stint together in Minnesota \u2014 has been evident in their latest reunion with the Knicks.<\/p>\n

\u201cAny time you\u2019ve spent the amount of time that we\u2019ve spent together and to have all the experiences that we\u2019ve had \u2014 we\u2019ve had some great highs, we\u2019ve had some lows \u2014 there\u2019s just an app<\/a>reciation for him,\u201d Thibodeau said Friday. \u201cI think that\u2019s one of the best parts of coaching, as you get to know people over a long period of time you appreciate all the things that they bring.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a great trust in each other. We\u2019ve always been truthful to each other. I think that\u2019s helped us build that trust. But he has a lot of deposits. Obviously all the things that he\u2019s done on all the teams that I\u2019ve been with, I wouldn\u2019t be in this position today without him.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Knicks improved to 16-17 with their win over the Kings on Thursday, and were in a position to potentially move into a tie for fourth place in the Eastern Conference when they faced the Pacers on Saturday night at the Garden.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s very important, especially when you have a coach like Thibs, he\u2019s a martinet-type of individual,\u201d Rose said Friday. \u201cHe\u2019s very serious. He knows the standings and he\u2019s going to remind you this is a team that if we make it to the payoffs we could end up facing them.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverything is about home court and in the playoffs that plays a huge role.\u201d<\/p>\n
