“#Emmanuel Acho tapp<\/a>ed to replace Chris Harrison on ‘The Bachelor’<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

Former NFL linebacker Emmanuel Acho has been tapped to host \u201cThe Bachelor: After The Final Rose\u201d special after Chris Harrison stepped down<\/a> amid a controversy over excusing alleged racism.<\/p>\n

The show announced the change on its Instagram account<\/a> Saturday night \u2014 and Acho, 30, could hardly contain his excitement.<\/p>\n

\u201cIT\u2019S OFFICIAL: I\u2019ve accepted the Rose & am honored to be hosting the @bachelorabc After the Final Rose this year,\u201d the Dallas-born bruiser wrote on Twitter<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s been a pivotal season & this episode will be one of the most storied shows in its history. Empathy is needed and change is coming. See y\u2019all then!\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cAfter the Final Rose\u201d special, is scheduled to air March 15 after the season 25 finale.<\/p>\n

Acho is expected to sit down with Matt James, the first Black Bachelor in the show\u2019s history, and his three frontrunners: Rachael Kirkconnell, Michelle Young and Bri Springs.<\/p>\n

Acho was drafted in the sixth round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns, had a brief stint on the New York Giants practice squad the next year. He ended his NFL career in 2015 with the Philadelphia Eagles. <\/p>\n

Now a Fox Sports analyst, Acho hosts a web series<\/a> called\u00a0\u201cUncomfortable Conversations With a Black Man.\u201d <\/p>\n

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, Matthew McConaughey, Chip and Joanna Gaines and Rachel\u00a0Lindsay \u2014 the first black \u201cBachelorette\u201d in 2017 \u2014 have all appeared on the show. <\/p>\n

The move comes after Harrison defended Kirkconnell amid accusations she allegedly \u201cliked racially insensitive posts on social media<\/a> and was photographed at a plantation-themed party while in college in Georgia. <\/p>\n

It was rumored that ABC hosts Michael Strahan or Robin Roberts would be replacing Harrison. He may be unfamiliar to Bachelor Nation, but he was Lindsay\u2019s preferred pick. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe think\u00a0Emmanuel Acho\u00a0would be fantastic,\u201d she told People Magazine<\/a> this week. \u201c[He\u2019s] very outspoken about racial injustice, for social justice, and has pretty much been the person who said, \u2018I can have these uncomfortable conversations, and people trust it.\u2019 Who better to lead it? [He\u2019s] someone who\u2019s not involved with the franchise, no ties, no bias \u2014 I think it\u2019d be great.\u201d<\/p>\n

Some of Bachelor Nation have not cheered the change. Lindsay deleted her Instagram<\/a> account on Saturday amid the criticism.\n <\/div>\n
