The announcement was made during a special event on February 28.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><em>Rent-a-Girlfriend<\/em>\u2018s second season was first announced in September 2020, the same month in which the first season concluded. The first season premiered in July 2020 and featured a star-studded cast <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">including Shun Horie (Kazuya Kinoshita), Sora Amamiya (Chizuru Mizuhara), Aoi Yuuki (Mami Nanami), Nao Touyama (Ruka Sarashina), and Rie Takahashi (Sumi Sakurasawa).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">The first season\u2019s staff included<span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"> Kazuomi Koga as director, Mitsutaka Hirota as <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a> composer, Kanna Hirayama as character designer, Fumiko Ishiguro as color designer, Minoru Akiba as art director, Shintaro Sakai as photography director, and Kenichi Maeyamada\/Hyadain as music composer.\u00a0TMS Entertainment was in charge of the animation production.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">During the 7th Anime Trending Awards, Hirayama won the award for best character design with her work on <em>Rent-A-Girlfriend<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><em>Rent-A-Girlf<span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">riend<\/span><\/em> is an adaptation of the manga by Reiji Miyajima, which began serialization in Kodansha\u2019s Weekly Shonen Jump in 2017. The manga has 19 volumes as of February 2021, while the Sumi-centered spin-off series <em>Kanojo, Hitomishimasu<\/em> currently has two volumes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Crunchyroll describes the series as:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><em>Kinoshita Kazuya is a 20-year-old failure of a college student.
