Former President Donald Trump was greeted with a standing ovation at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Sunday as he took the stage to deliver his first public speech since leaving the White House, declaring \u201cour movement \u2026 is just getting started.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI stand before you today to declare that the incredible journey we began together four years ago is far from over,\u201d Trump told the enthusiastic crowd.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur movement of proud hardworking American patriots is just getting started,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd in the end we will win!\u201d<\/p>\n

The former commander in chief slammed rumors that he planned on starting a new political party as \u201cfake news<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have the Republican Party,\u201d Trump said. \u201cIt\u00a0is going to unite and be stronger than ever before.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re not starting new parties. You know, they kept saying, \u2018he\u2019s going to start a brand new party.\u2019 We have the Republican Party, it is going to unite and be stronger than ever before. I am not starting a new party. That was fake news. Fake news. No. Wouldn\u2019t that be brilliant? Let\u2019s start a new party and let\u2019s divide our vote, so that you can never win. No we\u2019re not interested in that.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also took a hit at his successor, claiming that President Biden has had the \u201cmost\u00a0disastrous first month than any president in modern history.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe all knew the Biden administration was going to be bad, but no one knew how bad they would be,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n

Trump is returning to the national spotlight to cap the four-day annual conference in Orlando as Republicans hope to regain majorities in the House and Senate in the midterm elections 2022 and win the White House in 2024.<\/p>\n

Leading up to Trump\u2019s eagerly-awaited remarks, a parade of possible Republican presidential hopefuls \u2014 including Sens. Josh Hawley and Ted Cruz \u2014 served as opening acts over the weekend to fire up the CPAC crowd for the one-time commander-in-chief.<\/p>\n

Since leaving office on Jan. 20, Trump has been at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, meeting with former campaign officials and Republican lawmakers as he lays the groundwork for a political comeback for himself and the GOP.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
