\u201cCould this whole night have been an email? Yes.\u201d Tina Fey<\/a>, cohosting the 2021 Golden Globe Awards<\/a> with Amy Poehler<\/a> from opposite coasts, says in the opening monologue.<\/p>\n

But just because Fey\u2019s in New York City at the Rainbow Room, and Poehler at the Beverly Hilton, it doesn\u2019t mean that they don\u2019t deliver \u2014 even though the monologue can\u2019t help but feel different given the split screen, and cutting to stars Zooming rather than showing celebs live in the haudience. The audience, by the way, is filled with first responders.<\/p>\n

The cohosts even have fun with the split screen, with Fey \u201cpetting\u201d Poehler\u2019s hair. Among their jokes is a breakdown of how to tell the difference between a movie and a TV show, harder than ever since this year \u201cmovie theaters were closed and we watch everything on our phones,\u201d as Poehler puts it:<\/p>\n

Poehler:<\/strong> \u201cTV is the one I watch five hours straight, but a movie is the one I don\u2019t turn on because it\u2019s two hours. I don\u2019t want to be in front of my TV for two hours. I want to be in front of the TV for one hour five times.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fey:<\/strong> \u201cIf their fake teeth look real, that\u2019s a movie. If their real teeth look fake, that\u2019s TV.\u201d<\/p>\n

Poehler:<\/strong> \u201cIf the British actors are playing British people, that\u2019s TV. If they\u2019re playing Americans, it\u2019s a movie.\u2019<\/p>\n

Fey:<\/strong> \u201cIf you\u2019re like, \u2018Mario Lopez is surprisingly good in this,\u2019 that\u2019s TV.\u201d<\/p>\n

Poehler:<\/strong> \u201cAnd if it stars Matthew McConaughey as a poetic drifter, it\u2019s a car commercial.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fey:<\/strong> \u201cIn movies<\/a>, it\u2019s called human traffic king. But on TV, it\u2019s called 90 Day Fianc\u00e9<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n
